HobbyPeople WACO - Anybody???

I have searched but cannot find a thread on the "HobbyPeople" WACO. It looks good, but seems funny not to have a thread, or am I missing something or messing something up with my searches?

I have bought and am following the Dynam WACO thread, but HobbyPeople's is slightly smaller and looks kinda nice (but can it fly?).

If a thread exists on the HobbyPeople WACO, I'd sure appreciate it if someone would post a link!

Thanks in advance,

Aeronca

I would pass on this one.
If you have flown a Dynam Waco, you're not going to like this one at all.

I know 2 guys that bought it.
Terribly under-powered.
It barely had enough power to take off from a hard dirt runway.
Flys OK once you get it going, but they should have put a stronger motor on it.
I was not impressed with the quality either.

One of them returned his to HP & got his money back & the other one kept his & changed the motor (pretty sick that you have to buy another Motor, ESC & Prop for a new plane).

I appreciate your comments, Clive66! That kind of explains why I could find no thread on it.

I had my suspicions it might not "meet muster" for one reason (or several), which was the original reason for my question. I am always leery when a model has been out for quite some time and the vendor has only one somewhat "new" review posted on it; which really says very little.

Thanks again!

Interesting, any idea what motor was used for the upgrade, and did it work?

I have no idea what he used.
I didn't ask any particulars, since i had no interest in the plane.
He just said it flys good with the stronger motor.

Thanks saw one fly yesterday at the field , very shakey on the on the first flight, after adjusting the aileron and elevator throws , it flew well.
Not fast but looked great in the air. Landing gear and battery cover broke off on the first landing was glued back on with CA and it held OK.

I had one and it lasted for 1 1/2 flights. Although underpowered, the maiden flight was relatively uneventful. Once the trims were set, the rest of the maiden was done at 60% throttle with just gentle flying; no loop, no rolls, no stunts. It looked great in the air and landing was uneventful. For the second flight my plan was to do a few loops, rolls, hammerheads, etc. to see how it performs. The plane took off without any issue. Once in the air, I cut the throttle to 60% and banked a 180 to bring it back to me so that I could observe some of the maneuvers at close range. As the plane was flying straight and level at 60% throttle, the top wing ripped off the left side, dragging behind the right lower wing. before I could take any emergency landing steps, the drag of the top wing caused the lower right wing to rip off. Instant lawn dart. The plane went in from about 50ft up and the destruction was incredible. It looked like someone took a block of foam and put it through a wood chipper. I couldn't even begin to consider trying to put the pieces back together.

By comparison, a few weeks earlier I had a PZ Corsair lawndart from about the same altitude when it's battery fell out in mid-air. The Corsair's wing broke off and the fuselage had a crack in it. A little CA and the plane was back in the air again.
