Nice, I've hardly been able to fly with all the rain every single afternoon/evening. Seems like severe thunderstorms just form and appear out of no where right above where i fly.

I stripped a main gear the other day, no real sign of why, mesh was good, no contact with the ground?

Do you think the black are stronger? that's what I got to try next?

Gaui X5 - Flight 1184 Tail gears strip = Crash (1 min 44 sec)

Damage was minimal. Only a single broken main blade, a broken pitch linkage, and the stripped TT gears that caused the whole thing. The canopy has some road rash from sliding and the skid struts turned sideways mangling one of the pipes. I replaced one pipe and glued the bottom of the skid where the pipe ripped out and cracked the plastic ring (it was cracked from before this crash).

The black main gears are stronger but they aren't a drop in fit. You'll need to redo your gear mesh because the black gears are a hair bigger with slightly fatter teeth. The red gears seem fine for me, but they fatigue. I had a main gear strip out while spooling up once. That was after like 700 flights or something. But i didn't fly as aggressively as i do now. These days i replace the main gear every 100 flights or when ever i start seeing some wear marks on it or some almost white looking sections on the teeth.

I tried out the Dry Fluid, I think it's helped to quiet down the gears...

What cha think?

I don't know if they are any quieter or not. I mean, they are still kind of loud, right?

Nice flying though. I really like the way you do your funnel and hurricane transitions and how low you get with them.

I got in some 550mm blades to try with my X5 stretch (X6) project. It flies alright with these blades. I think as long as i don't go to crazy on the collective the black main gears should hold up. In the next flight I'll be doing some more hard pitch pumps and things that previously would strip the main gear.

Well i got in a ton of flights today between all of my helis. The X5 flew great as always but my "X6" which is now more like a "X5.5" also flew surprisingly well without any mishaps.
