I'm starting a new project for the winter. I am going to do a scale Edge 540 based on the Paul Bonhomme plane from last year, and I was wondering if anyone had previous experience doing one? What Kit/Arf did you start with? did you modify the wing? what power and gear was used etc...

Go for a scratch build. That is my plan. Funny thing is, I was considering the same plane as my subject for the scheme. If you go here http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=56969 you can download the Edge 540 plans that this gentleman has so kindly posted for anyone to use.

I have that plan and it is rather an impressive work of art. His GB3 Racer is the dogs

Used a OK Models kit - .10 sized but believe there a loads more Extra 300Ls out there. Here's the thread on the build. Essentially was an experiment to fiberglass and spray paint. Has worked well and continuing to fiberglass instead of monokote.

Peak Models is coming out with a 30cc version of Alehandro Maclean's MXS-R complete with race canopy and those crazy wing tips.
