The motor will power it okay, and the servos will move the control surfaces, but not with authority. Find something close to a HiTec HS-65. I personally run Corona 13g Digital Metal gears and they seem to be doing the trick well.

Speaking of mine, I am the proud new owner of a 48" BAF Extra 300L, and I must say...simply stunning. So much more fun then a 38" So much more presence, and SO much more precision. Recommended setup from Mike, save the servos.

Got the plane at the AMA show and started building at 4:30PM Friday. Wanted it ready by Saturday morning flying. Worked on it until 3:00AM (took breaks to eat and be with the GF...although we did spend some time striping the plane together, she likes my planes for the most part then got up at 7:15AM to finish up in the morning.

Flies great...wouldn't trade it for anything. Just need some longer servo arms to get max 3D throw...then she'll really be fun.

What do you think of my packing tape job?

I read some of your post and i would like to have your opinion please.

I fly HK450 heli, Gemini multiplex plane and in past i had the typhoon 2 3d that i sold cause .... weird plane.

I plan to buy a Dw foamies 48" i will use 40amp esc turnigy, turnigy motor TR c3536-1000, 2200 mah lippo, and HXT900 servos (i already use them in plane and heli) My transmitter is a Spetkrum Dx6i

1- Do you think its a good setup ?

2- i never build this kind of plane, foam safe CA adn kicker is ok ? or what is better ?

Thanks for your answer and excuse my english im french from quebec, canada !
You'll strip the HXT900 servos instantly with a 48" BAF kit. For a plane this size, don't even think about skimping on the servos, they're mandatory stuff. Hitec HS65HB servos are what's recommended by me, and numerous others. More than enough torque, and they are ultra precise with centering (unlike the POS HXT900's).

I also suggest going with what Mike recommends for the plane, I believe he has combo power packs available. Send him an email about it.

I built mine using BSI Foam Safe CA and Foam Safe Kicker, so I recommend that. You will also need a 1" roll of 3M Blenderm tape (Mike also has glue packs available with CA, kicker, 1" blenderm tape, and DW PVA glue).

Hey guys,

Figured I'd join in on the DW Foamies Owners thread. I've personally got two DWFs, a 38" Juka that I built, and a 48" Yak built and graphics done by Mike. Both fly brilliantly, but considering I'm going to be in Michigan for a while I ended up picking my favorite of the two, the 48", to come out here with me. Major props to Mike for designing and building a fantastic flying plane.

I've been home from school for a few weeks now and the only flying I've been able to get in has been with my 38" juka. Its really an awesome plane!

I'll try to get some video tonight in the gym!

If you want a suitable replacement then you won't find one. The HS65HB is the only servo in its class- nothing else compares.

Xpress its your opinion and i respect that. I own 3 hk450 and one Hk500Gt and a lot of people at field told only about "big brand names". I build all my heli and planes with other cheap name and i have no more trouble or glitching then them so ... sorry but i dont buy brand name in servo, motor, and speed controller. Theres always a damn good product less expensive doing same or better often.

I plan on doing a 'mini review' after more flights of on my Corona servos. We'll see how they hold up.

Question: According to my watt meter, my servos, when all four are in full throw, draw .6 amps. Since the ESC I have has either a 2 or 3 amp BEC in it, does that mean i'm well under my limit?
