I must say Chuck Boudreau did a great job with this newsletter.. (not me) .. Lot of fun was has in Aug and Sept during these Race Week events..

As for me, I'm just looking forward to getting back to sailing with friends for fun and trying to improve

After the ODOM races I hung out for a while to watch the SBs and Solings.

Here's are some segments of I believe the 2nd? of three ODOM Points Races held this Saturday with 10 ODOMs participating .. I clipped out some of the down-wind legs but it's still pretty long..

The whole Pond is in view, but with this new Wide Angle Lens .. it's hard to keep track of the individual sail Numbers sorry..I'll use the other No 16's in the future Sorry no spiffy words of wisdom or Narration..We need Ken's help for that .... JimS

What happened to the water level . . it looks very low. I thought that the sea valve had been fixed. Does the level still fluctuate based on the height of the tides?

Hi John,
I think it does always vary somewhat with the tides.. yes.

when the valve gets stuck the level gradually ( over a two week period) drops VERY low.. as it did for a month or so just before RaceWeek.. but with a valve that works normally .. you are right, the water level is supposed to remain fairly high all the time, as it's a one-way flapper valve to trap it..

I noticed last week Wed that it was only down a foot or two below the grass line ( as it was when the replacement valve was newly in place) and during RaceWeek .. but Saturday during this race it was down about 3 to 5 feet as you see here.. so perhaps the valve is acting up or the tide's been consistently low one.. not sure.. but right now it's fine for sailing like this, as long as you tack in time to avoid getting stuck ( as a couple Soling 50 guys did this weekend in the series). Good observation.. What saddens me is to swing by as I often do over lunch and see no one taking advantage of it.. JimS

Wow.. you should take a few orders at the pond.. I'd give you $5.00 for your trouble printing me one..

This sign is what will greet you as you pull up to park in the ample parking spaces available ... i plan to drive over to the dark side ( where the restrooms are) and set up and perhaps even sail from that side tomorrow..
