Got a new charger. need some info before first charge

Hi guys,

Well, i now have my first proper charger.
after many years charging from simple non-computerised chargers, i bought the ripmax - SIGMA EQ Mini.

http://www2.ripmax.net/Item.aspx?Ite...ry=ZZNew201208

it looks smart, nice and compact, i have however bought an extra set of charge leads, as it came with a deans connector and not an XT60.

but i am now ready to hit the charge button. but want to double check i have all the info correctly...

My batterys are
1300mah 2s 20-30c discharge.

if i have got it right, to charge this at 1c it is 1.3ah

what would the maximum be i could charge these up at. they are good quality batterys. being Genuine Turingy i have 4 of them to charge.

thanks guys.

tony

I personally would not hesitate charging any lipoly flight pack at 3C if I did not have the luxury of time to wait on a slower charge. With your packs, I would charge anywhere from 1.3 to 4 amps pwith no worries. I typically ALWAYS charge in balance mode and never charge without balance leads connected.

yeah, this has a balance board, and as such, i will never charge with out it.

so, from what you are saying, i could charge my packs at 2.6ah (2c) without a problem?

obviously i wont charge them at this rate all the time, maybe while im at the field, but at home, 1c or below (as i do have the luxury of time

Yes, 2C will be absolutely fine, as will 3C as noted above. There are many very experienced modelers who never charge flight lipolys below 3C, regardless of manufacturer charge rate rating. As mentioned above, always perform balance charges to provide maximum safety.
