I never posted in the other... so here are my 2... well - 1-1/4 really.

The EasyStar is really starting to show its age. The wing has been broken, the nose crushed and split, the tail broken, managed to cut most of the way through the tail spar... it takes a beating! I figure I have over 200 hours of FPV stick time with it. It's coming in for a complete overhaul soon.

Multiplex EasyStar
Stock Tiny S servos for control surfaces
Thunderbird (CC) 54a ESC
CC 10a BEC
E-Flite 6 Series motor with a 6X4APC
Futaba 168DP rx with the antenna doubled
EZOSD
Enlarged rudder
A few cooling cutouts
CF stips on each axis (and used to reinforce where I broke the wing)
Cutout on the bottom with hatch
ReadyMade pod for the video gear
DPC480 camera
3300mah 3s
Sander LC Filter
900/500 mhz
HS65 servos
2dbi antenna

I will be upgrading the servos to HS65's as well for the control surfaces. The overhaul will also include a 1.5w 900mhz Vtx, an inverted V antenna, EZUHF 433 control.

The FunJet is a work in progress. I don't have all the parts yet - but the basic setup will be:
5.5 x 4.5APC prop
2700kv inrunner
10a CC BEC
CC 36a ESC
3300mah battery
HS65 servos for the control and pan (no tilt)
RMRC 520 camera
EZOSD
EZUHF
900/500 vtx - antenna undecided

I have a CF wing spar and a cf strip running along the belly

I may end up moving to 1.2g video - but I want to see the limits of the 900 gear.

Both in the hangar

Finally the work in progress ground station. Basically a Pellican case with the tracking module up top - I will be using the Immersion tracker as well. It will either have a Yagi or a Bi-Quad. I may put the yagi on a tracker and fix the bi-quad on the case - both running through an Oracle diversity.

Does anyone know of a system that allows all of this...or an example of how all of this has been integrated from multiple systems:

- Stabilization using gyro/accelerometer (no thermopile crap) ...good example: FY20
- OSD & autopilot (GPS, power sensor etc) ...good example RangeVideo
- Downlink telemetry (Antenna Tracker/Google Earth) ...good example: EZOSD
- Barometric altitude and airspeed ...good example: EagleTree

I've sent 2 requests to the moderators to do just that.
I haven't received any response.

First FPV

Here's my first FPV plane. 900mhz on Parkzone Radian using Spectrum DX6i. Camera set up with pan using the rudder input on the Rx... Actual rudder set up on Aileron channel. Video feed into splitter for 19" LCD and Digital Camcorder.

Here's the actual package I got:

Plus this camera:

Been working great, really happy with it. Now I am trying to improve my reception. Most of the time I get to see a crystal clear video, than once in a while I get lots of drops... Any ideas? Just looking for tweaks at this point... not a whole new system

Here's a short video of a really bad section:

Here's a nicer video showing how clear the reception can be from the same flight:
FPV Radian 12.10 (3 min 49 sec)

Get a better antenna on the VTX. Those wips are junk. (not tuned well)
What are you using for the Rx antenna the same wip?
And hide your wires, any flapping will cause noise.

Just thought I'd throw in a picture of my tried and true Slow Stick. I haven't flown it with the GoPro yet, but it's ready to go! This is the same one in my videos, that had the Sony board cameras on it in the past.

I can already tell you what your problem is: antenna polarization. Your antenna needs to be straight up or your signal strength will be much less.

You can also upgrade to a much better antenna that will greatly improve performance. I fly an inverted Vee antenna as do many here on the FPV forum. It's easy to make, but I can make it for you if you need: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...php?t=1159968\

My bad, I meant to post this to Alex's antenna build string...

Alex, I need to bolt the biquad to an antenna tracker but I'm worried that putting 4 bolts (metal or plastic) through the middle of antenna is going to hurt performance...is that true or will this be ok?

Thanks

Hi IL76MD, Are you able to see your current draw? if so did it decrease with the larger wing?
My Skywalker draws about 9 amps at cruise I am trying to get it down in the 5-6 amp range. I think using a bigger wing will help.
