Ocean Vee 26in

Hi Guys

I want to buy one of these :-

http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddet...bt3952001_code

They don't do a RTR (which is probably a good thing!), so please could anyone help with which drive shaft and motor mount I should get.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

A member of our club has one and it will not self right. Even with added weights and all the electronics and battery on the side of the chamber. He was pretty disappointed. He runs it but when it flips he still has to retrieve it.

But as far as motor mounts go, this would work. I run one in my 26" Prince.

Have you considered one of these? Seem to go pretty well and self right when weighted properly. There's a couple on Ebay in the UK for 150.

Dragon sword mono 1, second testrun (2 min 28 sec)

Hi Losi..

The hull looks the same as the Dragon shark to me, I've seen one of those in action and it seemed to self right ok... having said that it did take a while to flip back over.

Wastegate....The Sword is very small whereas the Shark is quite a bit bigger

What I really want is the Toys Port Syncron...but at 615 euros all ready to go....maybe not !!

Hi Richard,

Fitting out a monohull isn't 'black magic', in fact they are al basically the same.

Getting a hull with a factory mounted floodchamber isn't a very good idea unless you want to play around with extra leadweights a lot.

The Dragon Shark and the 'new' R2H hull are copies of European competition hulls, which date from the NiMH era, meaning the floodchambers are severely undersized for brushless motors and Lipo propulsion.

Hence the lead, supplied with the R2H hulls...

If you really want the Syncron, I'd save up for it.

The Syncron occasionally pops up second hand at a considerably lower price:

The one in the link is cheaper than the stock empty hull with floodchamber ( 407,00)

Regards, Jan.

Hi Jan

Long time no speak !

So that's why they don't always 'self right'

I've had a few chinese RTR's, and they've all been poor, and I've ended up selling them on Ebay at a loss...so I think this time I might go for a new Syncron.

They've offered me :-

720mm Syncron RTR + flood chamber + Hifei 120a + 3674 2200 Leopard + delivery 615 euros

What do you think of the spec ?....? The 4s / Motor combo for a 28" boat seems a bit high to me, would a 3s 3000kv be more suited ?

thanks for your help

Hi Richard,

They offer the 4S for a reason: weight.

If you ask ToysPort for pictures, you'll see the Lipo is strapped onto the floodchamber wall to assure the selfrighting.

With a lighter 3S, you'd have to add lead in the floodchamber to compensate; I'd rather carry more capacity than lead...

BTW: 2200 x 14,8 =32560 rpm unloaded
3000 x 11.1 = 33300 rpm unloaded, so what's your angle on that...?

The KV selected gives you a hot race set-up, not easy to drive, certainly not in rough conditions, but very fast.

I can't comment on the price; I'm a budget boater and for that amount I can fit out two boats to race for an entire season...

Regards, Jan.

Hi Jan

Of course....it's got list to one side for it all to work, so it's 4s or 5s I guess.....I'm very tempted...I'll let you know if I go for it.

Regards building a boat, I notice you use solid shaft drives, where do you source them from, all I can find are flex drives

Regards

Was that because of rough water or just inherent instability?

The Etti shafts, work very good:

In my Arowana I have a shaft similar to this one:

4 pole motor

Hi Guys

Still not got the Syncron !. The northern Amp Draggers were out at Bury 2 weeks ago. I noticed the fastest boats were in fact Syncrons or Ettis, have to say very impressive speeds.

But for now @ 60 for I got myself an R2 Ocean Force so need a 28mm motor

So whats best option :-

4200kv 2s 2 pole
3000kv 3s 2 pole
2000kv 4s 2 pole
2200kv 4s 4 pole

or none of these !

Also what would give best battery run-time.

Any help here would be appreciated.

cheers
