Having stated previously that it seems impossible to fit A123 cells in a Pyranha I actually tried it and they do sort of fit ok, although they push the duct in a couple of mm this shouldn't be a problem since immediately after the fan it is >100%FSA.

I'm planning to run on 6S A123 (450g) on it's original 16/15/3.

AUW is at 975g which is much less than it used to be on nicads many years ago.

However when I upgraded it to lipo I made a smaller wing since it was so much lighter. I now need to make a new wing in the original size to carry teh a123 weight, does anyone have the dimensions, i've lost the instructions (and the old wing) and can't find them online.

I have met Jepe before the shop burned down and he was bu far not fond of using A123 in his Piranha. For this I am nearly cursed

I am curiuos if you are able to balance the plane properly with 6a A123.

I have just purshased an Piranha (kit) wich I have to open. I will look up the dimensions asap.

Btw I am planning the JS1400 +ds30. Unfortunately A123 is not an option for this setup.

You might as well reconsider 1100mAh cells: 6s1p +6s1p. This will clear the duct.

Hi Erik, I was going with 6S based on your testdata thread, do you know what watts I can expect on 6S and the 16/15/3? I would like to start hand launching it but need at least 700w for this weight, hence the normal size or slightly larger wing.

It balances at 45-50mm with 6S which is fine, I usually fly it at around 55mm.

Are the Pyranha's still available from somewhere? I would like to pick up one of the fully composite ones?

Thanks Kevin, I managed to find some original drawings from the designer which gave me a rough idea, 29" plus wing tips. I've just glued up a 33" wing, can always cut it down ;-)

You will be in the 650Watt rang with this setup if the /3 is the old 3000kV version.

Piranhas are no longer available and Jean Paul is not open for more kits/ parts on request. The Piranha moulds are for sale @1500euro.

I am planning 1400+ Watts in future. Hope to maiden my Jetmach at the end of this week. After my short holiday (Istanbul) I will continue the Huckebein/wm400/axi and the piranha after this.

You might even reconsider the /2@3s which should be very light @ identical power of NiCd version. (had the Beta version 9/10 with 12xcp1700 @1100gr)

I have 4 16/15/3 motors all over 3 years old, any idea if these are the 2800 or 3000 versions?

I am currently running 6S A123 on a 22/30/3 direct drive prop model for a sustained 950W WOT run. Maybe I need a slightly heavier and higher kv motor than the 16/15/3. I will do some tests installed in the Pyranha and report back.
