I'm in . . .

This post is in response to frankg's calling for modelers to come out of the woodwork.
This is my first attempt at working on a wood boat kit.
I find it challenging, but very rewarding.
In other words, I'm enjoying the out of it.
I am aware that is a simple kit by most of your standards, but I spend a lot of time learning and enjoying reading your posts on RC Groups and I felt a need to participate.
Thanks for taking a look.

BARRY- Great choice for a first model. MIDWEST Kits I would rate at the top for instructions making it the best choice for a newbie to the world of model boating. The Midwest lobster boat is not only a good build but a great running model when finished.

From the looks of your pictures, it looks like you have got the basics well under your belt. Remember not to rush, this is not a race, and if you have a question, ask here on the forum with a picture of the problem.

Welcome to the world of model boat and ship building, but remember that this can become additive.

Thanks for your feedback, frankg!
I am taking my time, approximately 3 months so far, working a couple hours, 5 or 6 days a week.
The hull you see has 2 layers of fiberglass cloth applied with finishing epoxy, followed by lots of sanding!
Also, the motor and battery compartments have 1 layer of fiberglass cloth applied, as was specified in the instructions.
I plan on posting more photos as I progress.
Thanks for the push.
As soon as this boat is completed, I will be ordering your Legend Model, 'Miss Behave'!
I love that boat.
I'm addicted!

Miss Behave

Nice job on the Midwest Kit. I started in this hobby with the Garwood Speedster (Miss Behave) from Legend boats in 2011. It is an amazing kit! I wish I had started with a Midwest kit. And yes, this hobby is really addicting.

frankg, heavymeasure, californiakid, oltribefan, MILLERTIME, 6789boat, the goon, Tim B. thanks for making me feel welcome! I'm very appreciative of what RC Groups is all about. One of the highlights of my highlighted day. Life is good!
6789boat, my model is the Lobster Boat. I love it's lines and scale at 30".
I also have a Dumas Cris Craft Barrel Back which I purchased from a friend in my club, who purchased it on EBay about 6 months ago. It appears to be an older version as it is double planked wood(not Styrene). I will post photos of it soon. It's a beauty! Maybe one of you can identify who built it. My first project with boats was outfitting it with electronics, building the the structures for mounting them, etc. I believe it was built as a static model.
Well, today, I plan to work on the rudder, and after that more sanding! Wet sanding with 320.
Thanks again!

Barry, you will find that sanding, sanding, sanding and more sanding is part and parcel of model boat building. Enjoy!
