Hows the Iona 10R?
I have been kicking around the idea of building a 10R. I have a mast laying around already. I am leaving towards the Iona, has anyone sailed one of these? How do they do in windy weather?

The Iona is a middle of the road design. Mark Gee sailed his in england and did OK. He built it more for colorado light air and had issues with the depth of the pond in england. Personally I would build the previous one (cloud name). If you are interested in a hull, I have one from Marks mold. I have more 10R's than I need so this one is not going to get built. I have 6 complete 10R's in the basement right now.

I dont know how they sail as I havn't finished mine yet but heres a build log so far

Hi-
John- I'm totally new to the world of R/C sailboats... have had some experience in Nitro boats/outrigger hydro's, but am trying to feel my way around the world of sail. I see "10R" and "IOR"... are these the same- and where can I find more info on this (these) boats?? Appears to be 10 meter- but I could certainly be wrong! I'm an experienced builder, and love building, but totally inexperienced in the world of sail. I believe I'd love to build a good sailboat, fiberglass hull would certainly be a good starting point as desireable. Thanks!! Wes |
