My 8th Pico Moth

Just finished my 8th moth. Flying it tomorrow. The Pico Moth is a great airplane and I never get tired of flying them.

Your moth looks great. I am impressed with your work. I have two Moth 400's but no Pico Moths. I have a dosen or two EPO Corsairs, does that count?

Hello Pat,

Thank you very much for posting these great pictures.
I like what you did on the SCALE landing gears, and the scheme as well.

You have been the first Squadron Leader of GWS Pico TM indeed, at least on RCG.

Thank you again.

Here are some pics and videos of my latest GWS Corsair venture. I have kits un built just waiting for somebody to build a 35mm to 45mm can motor that will handle sustained power. The orange Corsair has to be the fastest GWS Corsair ever built or that I have seen anyways. Using GPS I come up with 142 mph and with two stop watches, one person at each goal post, a football field and a little simple math I have got 147 mph. The motor is a NTM EF-1 racing motor 1300kv 900 watt rated for 4s. I am running a APC 8x8 prop on 5s at 1200 watts in the video and it is only good for burst power as much more than a few seconds will cook the motor. The yellow Corsair was my first attempt at having the worlds fastest GWS Corsair, I believe it was until the orange one was born Both are a tribute to GWS USA, hence the GWS USA graphics. If folks only knew how wonderful the GWS EPO Corsair airframe is and if GWS would start making them again.

Hi Semperfi,

As far as I've noticed that you are the first pilot who made such record, 147 mph on a GWS Corsair, and used GPS on it as an aid. Great job you did ! Thank you very much for sharing the videos, pictures and your efforts.

Chen

p.s. Suggest you starting a thread talking about your records on the forum of Parkflyer as well.

Hi Pat,

Your Pico TM's are all art of work ones, I would put your finest PTM in the museum of ART if I were the chairman of AMA.

Chen thanks--I did give my rubber powered Fiat G-50 to the AMA museum back in 1981 or so, but they lost it! Here are a few flight photos from Saturday evening of the new Moth-- I call it the German Moth because of the registration.
She flies very slowly because of the 4.5 ounce/square foot wing loading. Love it!

Hi Pat,

Thank you for sharing these pictures.
Regret to know the AMA museum lost your loved Fiat G-50. Be sure to remind them to value your loved birds more if you decide to give any of your PTM's to them.

I love the struts you did on it, too.

Thanks for your comments. I made the struts with 0.05 inch carbon rod. The interplane struts were faired with balsa and painted brown.
