right wing started on the R4 Coupe.....i was missing a R2 rib...i may have miss counted and included it in one of the other 2 kits....i pulled a R3 rib and used it in place of the R2.....
the MSJ cut too wide...... .........some minor bugs to get worked out...still i think looking good. the left wing half should go together a little quicker ImagesView all Images in thread

wing is about 90% done......it took a good deal of sanding to shape it all down.... i should be ready to start the fuse soon.......
the wing is pretty thin...i went looking for a servo in my pile and found i didn't have any...not one....they are since on the way...... ......colors.....hmm....what color......i guess i still have a little time left to figure the color scheme out..... ImagesView all Images in thread

so far no major problems....
i think the cheeks are going to give me fits....they were cut /drawn wrong and will need allot of shaping where they meet the top firewall... i had to order the landing gear from tower...i swear i had a set laying around somewhere....... the battery and tank will have to go in after the holes for the gear are drilled... i am gluing up some scrap to make servo rails....the way the parts were cut on the balsa leaves quite a bit of usable wood.... i also installed the tubes to take the pushrods...you cant hardly see them in the pics as they are clear......... ....colors.....hmmm....getting closer..... .........i was having such a great time on the build that i almost forgot a pictured update......the landing gear and push-rods made it today...and i found some wheels on a set of retracts i think i will use on this plane.....
.........colors....i have a scheme drawn up and so far it looks like red and black on the top........red and white for the bottom....we'll see as this color process usually changes several times and then again right at the last minute as its being applied i had the plans copied today for the next project....60 sized Gull Wing ....it may be closer to the first of the year before we get a good look at that one...but today marks the start of the process ImagesView all Images in thread

i still need to hinge the tail feathers but they are at least covered.....the wing still needs servos installed and covered...the wing will(i hope) be covered the same as the elevator....not shaping up to bad....
i'm now not a fan of chrome covering....it shows everything underneath...also while shrinking if you get it too hot it will cloud over....i have two full rolls left ... i guess i have enough to trim out the wing.... |

i have the ol' R4 covered....i'm not too happy with the pictures...between my flash an the camera and the chrome trim...in a low lit livingroom....not good
...........anyway here are a couple until i can get outside and get some better ones..... ..........looks like the bottom will be very easy to see and easy to tell which is the top vs. the bottom..... i still need all the push-rods hooked up....install Rx....add 4-5 oz weight to the tail.......i should have went with the .25....naaah !!!! |

I am going to cheat!!
LOOKS GOOD. I have not had time to update my progress so I will cheet! Here is a pic. I am close to done. It is snowy now, so I may put her on skies. I will update as soon as I get a minute. The second pic is to show the stab of my next project. A 1\5 scale Cessna 182 Skylane Top Flit gold adition kit. My wife bought me the cokpit kit for x-mas. I will post the progress of that as well on my blog. One question: Why 4 servos in the wing. Did you do flaps? I thought about it myself.

4 servos was for plenty of torque and just in case i wanted to add flaps....they are 9gram el'cheapo's from hobby king......
wayne doesn't have a computer...he is 70+ years old and hasn't had the need for one...but he calls wanting me to look up kits and engines he sees in magazines....too funny i know he had me order some 3s lipos from hobby king and as soon as they get here i'll drive up there and get some pics of his..... yours looks great....both ours were nose heavy....did you find your to be as well? |
