I agree Sir. . . Like is a two way street indeed.

Introducing The weight grid. . .

Here is the weight saving part of my new wing design approach. . . I call it "the grid" I Dremel out dozens of square shaped sections under the wing in order to save weight . . Later on balsa sheet or 1mm depron will cover the underside of the Metroliner's wings.

Retracted position. .

Here are the main servoless retracts in their retracted "gears up" position. . . It's a tight squeeze but they go up fine.

Engine firewall mount. .

Here is the plywood engine mounting plate for the Metroliner ... . It's shaped to allow room for the tires of the main gears when they retract up.

Firewall support

We all need support somtimes. . . And so does the Metroliner's plywood firewalls. . So km adding two carbon fiber rods per mount.

With this extra added strength I'm not worried about engine torque twist or unnecessary vibration.

Great stuff! I am noticing an increasing amount of fibreglass in your models. How long until we start seeing entirely composite airframes?

I hear ya Graeme!. . .probably never. . . In order to make an entire mold for all the parts that Make up an airliner would be WAY to expensive to make all the molds

But I could possibly make a all fiberglass 50 inch Mig-21 kit.

It's important to make sure that the Metroliner's main gear wheels will fit inside the nacel when up.

One Long engine mount... . .

I've now hand crafted two plywood engine mounts for my Sabena Metroliner. . . These mounts must allow the tires to retract up between the walls of the mount. . . Not easy to do.

Mounting the motors. .

In order to keep this Metroliner light and give her scale flight I've chosen 2 Hextronik DT 700 motors . . . They should give plenty of torque to turn a 10-6 4 blade prop . . . They will have lower rmps but will still give plenty of thrust. . . I've used these motors before and I'm very impressed with their power. Four of these will power the SilverFox and I are building
