Hi, it is rather simple to make in 20min (hopefully) and have the plane up and running than wait for 3weeks to get the aftermarket.

Got some wood, aluminum and carbon laying around and could be of good use.
The previous owner had a plywood kinda firewall epoxied on the ship and it was working like a charm until I changed the prop to a larger one....snap and there the prop flyes away...

so are u planning to use the stock mounting points?

Yes.

I've also installed a wooden supporting "beam" between the two mottor mounts.
The firewall that I had installed (one gone now) was covering the whole hole area of the front with a big hole under the motor for cooling. This worked pretty well as it was supported by the two stock motor mounts and the elapor at the whole perimeter, as one assembly with epoxy.

I think I'm going this way again.

Hi guys,

there seem to be plenty of info but here it goes...another motor/prop question...

I picked up the acromaster new and is all setup with
motor A30 10xl v2 (177grams)
ESC TGY plush 40amp
batteries 2200mah 3S turnigys 30-45C
AUW is 1100grams

(the motor was the only decent thing at LHS)

I've tried several props but the run times are really unrealistic/silly (too little). the motor can handle pretty much every large size prop. The only thing I can come up with to keep this setup is to run x2 in parallel of the above bats with a 12x6 APC slowfly to keep the times a bit above 10mins (according to propCalc).

However the AUW will be 1300grams. Is this plenty heavy for the AM or is it still acceptable performance wise..? the thrust/weight ratio is still pretty good but what is a good value?

Any suggestions?

I've also thought of using the 4S 5000mah from my buggy which will bring the AUW at 1400grams increase run times even with a 13x6.5 and give more than 600watts and t/w ratio of more than 2.3

I'm still a noob in acro, but give me some height and I can do pretty much everything.

I don't know anything about your motor, but I can tell you that a lighter AM is prefered. I'm using an Eflite power 15, 40amp esc, 2200mah 3s, &13x6.5 apc prop. My flight times average about 5-6 minutes. I could probably push 8-10 minutes if I fly slowly, but it's to hard to resist carving up the sky!

Thanx for the info.
The Hacker is one of the better ones, but unfortunately not fit for the flight times I want to see (10min).

Stupid question maybe but what is going to be the effect of a heavier plane? I mean the endless power and the times will be there with the 4s brick (2.3/1 ratio), but how is it going to behave?

Do you have enough with 5-6min? Have you tried a 12x6 or even a 12x4.7?

Got me 2 tgys 2836-1200.
These would make a better fit, but I'd still appreciate feedback on the above.

I'm happy with my setup. Once you get your plane together fly the heavier battery, then compare it to the lighter setup, you'll see the difference. If you want a plane with long flight times you should look elsewhere. The AM is a small lite 3d plane. I had a Parkzone T-28 and with a larger battery I was able to get long flight times and evan though it was heavy, the plane performed very well.

I absolutely love my AcroMaster! Does anyone else count the flights on their planes? I'm up to 34 in 2 months!

I found the stock landing gear too springy. Solved the problem by 1. Using JB Weld to affix a couple of TINY washers onto each leg of the landing gear 2. Putting two rubber bands between the struts. Really helps the flexing problem.

Hi, I'll do so. the plane has already more than 10 flights, I'm just not satisfied with the duration.

Mild 3d I got over 10minutes in the air.performance was very good with a light plane..I'm just looking for a way to use that hacker motor!

Trial and error I guess then.

5-6mins is my typical flight time using a Scorpion motor and 2200mAh 3S Turnigy/Fligtmax battery. 10 mins sounds exceptionally long for an acrobatic electric model. Interestingly, going to 2650mAh doesn't increase time more than maybe 30 seconds, it gives it more punch but it flies slightly heavier/faster.

I tried an 1800 3S Flightmax, on the edge of the batt power really, notably shorter time and notably lighter and slower. I thought my model was reasonably light (sorry haven't weighed it recently) but then flew my father's brand new AM and there's a world of difference! Mine has ply in the nose and several repairs.

I think you can try any of the options you've suggested, they all look workable. Maybe even put the old motor back in if the performance is ok.

PS - be careful using a SF prop with this much power - they are not designed to exceed 5000rpm iirc.

i have a Acromaster with following Setup:

Turngiky SK3 3542- 1250 KV
APC Style Prop 12x6
2200 mah 3S1p
50 A HK ESC
SBec
HK MG Servos all arround.

The Prop is a bit big, but plenty of Power. I didnīt like the 11 x 5.5 so i changed.

My TX is set to 7 Min. Flight Time. 25 - 30 % Batterie left normaly

I find 10 Minutes is a bit long for an Acromaster. The lighter the better.
My AUW is 1170g.

I think i have more than 50 flights in the last 2 months.
Like the AM.
