I'm building my first balsa kit and have a question about the wing tips. The kit I'm building is a Great Planes Tutor and the wing tips have a triangular extension glued to the end. My question is, what do they do and are they necessary. The reason I ask is,I'm having a hell of a time covering them and getting them to look half decent.

Are they "necessary"?
But they do improve the appearance over a squared off tip.
Covering. Bottom first, then the top, stretching the film around the edges, and trim maybe an 1/8" all around.
