Test fitting the firewall, engine mount, fuel tank and Spring Air retract unit that go in the nose area. The OS 61SF ABC-P will be mounted vertical at first so I can glue the nose together with the nose ring, etc. After more of the nose is constructed the mount will be turned 90 degrees to the right using its symmetrical mounting holes.

Because of the space provided by the air intake I can mount the nose retract unit further forward for clearance with the nose wheel and the front of the wing.

More progress. I like to get the firewall related parts pretty well located together as an assembly so it can all be glued into the fuselage as one part.

More finish sanding on the firewall parts. The retract gear mounting plate will be tapered slightly to fit the inside of the fuselage after a get into the fitment process.

Planning the mounting position of the power plant. The position forward on the mount provides lots of space for the pump fuel lines and will line up correctly at the nose ring.

I love these OS 61SF ABC-P engines. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to add to my stock so that I now have three that have been run with low time like the one in the picture below, four new in box and lots of spare parts.

Drilled the firewall for the throttle cable and working on the nose gear steering. For the past twenty-five years Ive always made the steering cable mount removable, but because Ive never needed to remove a mount I glued this one in place. Ill cut off a little of the cable end of the nylon clevis and then I epoxy the clevis to the cable because it does not need to be adjustable and saves space for more movement if needed.
