The F3B Australian Open was held March 2012, Corinne & myself went down for a look having never seen this sort of event before & was thrilled by just how fast paced this event is. Now only having a little home,hand held camera we did our best to capture these Gliders as they shot by at sometimes over 200 kph. The crashes are spectacular at these speeds too. Anyway here is a short video i hope will be a memory for those that where there, a look at the Australian Open for F3B followers around the world & a look at what it's all about for the people who have never seen an event like this. Most of these gliders are around the $3000 mark, add winches & running gear & you can see this is serious stuff! So sit back & enjoy seeing the Best F3B Pilots from Australia & a top world class Pilot from Holland Jeroen Smits who eventually after a hard fought 3 days takes out the competition from Australian John Skinner, Oh there's also a few crashes to keep an eye out for Jeroen's in slow motion

The International F3J is coming up in March; if you have your camera handy there's plenty of opportunity for videographers; launching and landing in F3J can be spectacular.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for posting that video. It was a great weekend had by all.

Very interesting at 10 min 52 sec mark there are pictures of a broken Fosa wing. Very interesting spar - looks like a honey comb sandwich going length ways through the spar.

Also an unfortunate shot of a plane stuck in the ground at 11min 25sec (the un named person forgot to plug the battery in before launch!).

Also Chuck, great pictures of speed on the last day. Good camera work to follow planes on their last legs through the course.
