Summer, Bah humbug!

Quote:
Been a very very dry January in Western Vic. Instead of our January average of 35mm we got 4mm total here
Yep every thing is brown hot and crispy dry here atm but here a couple of shots from the last trip to South Oz when it was cold, green and pumpin' at Mt Terrible, Bring on WINTER!

Dave, Joel and Simon might just recognise them selves all rugged up, us Vico's are looking forward to getting back there later on this year.

Cheers Dash.

Nice Crepuscular rays Josh . They can be seen when the air is full of particles & the light source is hidden . Though the rays of light look like they diverge they are always parrallel .

I`m just a bit dissapointed I let my guard down & wrote something intelligent in rc groups . At least I stuck to my main criteia & made sure it had nothing to do with planes .

But you totally spoilt the illusion and now all I see is the parallel lines of light.

Went out to our local spot on Thursday with a lovely southerly blowing away.

As per usual the Wedge Tailed Eagle came for a visit.

The glider in these shots is 1.6M wingspan so you can get an idea of how big she is.

Only hit me once but that was enough to do a fair amount of damage.
Knocked the canopy off and punctured the wing in 2 spots.
The front hole went all the way through the wing.

After this.. she buggered off for about 45 minutes then came back again for another quick squirt then that was it.

One of my mates was out the other week and had 3 wedgies having a go at him!! Not pretty when he was trying to fly a composite model.

Good shots!

Ripper pics there! Must join you for a fly again soon.
Dunno what makes the Geelong eagles so stroppy - I used to fly with them regularly on slopes various many years ago, and they would come for a look or soar beside us, but no aggro.
I wonder if someone has given them deliberate curry along the road and created a racial memory?
Cheers,
Pete

Yes.. you must!!!!

Buggered if I know why they are stroppy.
I can understand in the breeding times.. but as you say.. they are all rather nasty over this side.
The Maude slope is also understandable as people have been gliding there for a loooong time and there are a lot of idiot flyers who have tried to scare them off.
But as for this slope.. we make a big effort not to antagonise them. No chasing etc.
The worst we will do is risk a sacrifice to get a good pic but she does all the hard work.. we just get out of her way.

I dunno.. but it sure is fun!!!
