On-Road track barrier suggestion/recomendation

Me and four guys race onroad 1/8 and 1/10 scale touring in parking lots around town and are looking for a new track setup. We used 2x4's with hinges on the ends to set up our tracks last year and this year we gotta find something easier to transport, set up and, tear down.

I have looked at the Road Rails system and it seems that there are not many people (via youtube and google searches) using it, probably due to cost.

Ideas?

I've seen people use old fire hose, it's pretty heavy so it won't blow around but it's easy to transport. Not sure how cheap it is to find though.

Find some old tire and cut sidewall off with a sawsall. Two people makes it alot easier. There are no wires in the sidewall so they cut pretty easily. Paint inside with white paint and red stripes and you now have corner markers with curbs.
Use fake plastic garden rock wall for straights. Can be found at local kMart.
