Twisted Hobbys / RC Factory 48" EXTRA 300 - Build Thread

.
Introducting Twisted Hobbys' newest addition...

RC Factory's 3D Acrobat

1.2m EXTRA 300

..........
-----------------------------------------------

New for 2014... a 48" model for those wanting to fly something a little bigger than the 39" Airframes or stepping up from a 32 inch flat foil, the Extra 300 could be your next airframe. Borrowing design elements from the 48" Sbach and improving in areas to allow for more extreme 3D and a crisper feel, the Extra 300 is sure to be a winner and a great addition to any hanger. The bigger size will not only allow you to fly in less than ideal conditions, but also makes it easier to see. The model is available in two different colors... Blue or Purple and comes with a complete hardware pack that includes carbon landing gear, wheels, wheel pants and steerable tail wheel assembly.

Consider the Extra 300 for your next new plane..!!!

Specifications:

• Wing Span = 48.8" (1240mm)
• Length = 49.2" (1250mm)
• AUV: 26 to 32 oz. (750g to 900g)
• Motor - 200 - 450 Watt / recommended: Crack Series 2814-1000kV
• ESC - min 30 Amp / recommended: Crack Series 45 Amp
• Servos - 2x 10g and 2x 16g / recommended: 4x Crack Series DMG-65
• Full EPP construction and Durability
• Carbon Fiber landing gear
• Extra-large control surfaces
• Incredible control authority
• Smooth pattern to Extreme 3D performance

General Comments / Worth Noting

In general this airframe handles the weight of bigger batteries just fine and flies great on the 2200 and 2600 size 3s packs with either the E or SF 12" props mentioned, but if you are looking for a lighter battery setup, I also flew a couple thunderpower 1350 3s packs with the 12x4.7sf and had a ton of fun, 4 minutes moderate mixed 3D flying still had 30% plus left on the packs, I was surprised and impressed.... So a wide range here depending on what your intentions are.

I want!!!!!

Hope to get one soon. I just need to make some room in the hangar first.

I still need a 39" Edge too. I'm falling behind!

Nice plane. On the box it states two10gm and two16gm servos or four 16 gm. If the 10 gm were to be used are those for the elevator and rudder or the ailerons? Can't wait to get mine built. I'll be going with four 12 gram Hitec 65mg servos at first since I have them.

This is a beautiful plane. I am seriously considering it, I am also trying really hard to wrap my mind around the $300 price tag (kit + crack series combo). That is close to the cost of my 48" balsa.

.
If building with two different size servos... bigger ones on the ailerons. There is a lot of hinge length that they need to operate. MG65 is a good choice all around.
