Cumulus 2000 vs Filip 400
I am considering buying one of these and am looking for a bit more info to help me decide which.
My questions are:
How easy are they to fly? I am a relative beginner having only flown a 40 trainer (with ailerons).
What are the (best) motor / gearbox / prop options for each?
What are the battery options for each (capacity/cells)?
How easy is the Cumulus 2 piece wing to assemble on field?
Plus any other useful info on them.

I've flown my Cumulus 2000 twice now, and it's pretty easy to fly. It handles turbulence pretty well, and can fly slowly. I did get some wing flutter on my second flight, so it doesn't like higher speeds very much.
I'm flying the recommended setup from Hobby Lobby, which is a speed 480, with 8 cells and a cam 11-8. Definitely no problems gaining altitude.
The wing is very easy to assemble on the field. Two wing joiner pins, two screws, and you're done.

If you don't mind flying at 10 oz. sq/ft put a geared Kyosho AP29L in your Cumulus. Close to vertical for as long as you like. The motor is about an ounce heavier but you will need heavier batteries than 600AE's. 7- AR800s or CP1300s.
