Guys I've found with the vx1100 camera/tx and the pico moth it's the perfect fpv starter platform.
Using googles and the camera mounted on top of the wing it added a real sense of realism. I was even getting dizzy and needing to sit.
The plane flew so slow I was able to enjoy the view before needing to make a turn
It gave me the fpv bug

You'd better be a "Tree Top Flyer" with the new regulations that I'm sure will pass. I believe ..if you want to fly fpv you have to now get a pilot's license.
Did you know that all of us are supposed to register our airplanes with the FAA... and fly our AMA number on the planes? Anything r/c that flies is now named a "Drone". How many of you are aware of these changes that affect us all? Most people wont even know that you have to register your plane with the Govt.

Yeah with that fpv set up she's just a tree top flyer. Not much range
As far as fpv goes too many people have screwed it up for lots of us

Yep! I have a very small quad that came with FPV. The viewing screen is built into the transmitter. Too small to do much with it outside. I can fly out about 100ft before the image starts to break up.

I've gotten the urge to get a Moth flying again, and since there aren't any Picos to be found I just ordered a TM 3d kit from GravesRC.

Am I correct in believing that the 3D version uses the same fuselage as the Pico?

I've saved the wing all these years from my first Pico TM, see avatar and pics below...

It's very close to the same fuselage... but the struts are way different. And the top wing is epoxied to a wing mount. All of the flaps, ailerons, rudder and horizontal stabilizer are HUGE compared to the Pico Moth. The 3D version also comes with a huge brushed motor.

Your setup should fly well with the stock wings on it. Nice paint job!!

Very colorful Moth, JReeves! Been a long time since someone posted here. Gonna fly some of my moths tomorrow. Haven't touched one since December 12th. Good news is that spring is less than a month away. I will have to start another moth soon--still have few stashed away. It is sad to think that we are nearing the end of an era!

Hi Pat! Good to see you posting. I've got a lot to tinker with before I get one of my moth's in the air. Still never finished the Jenny kit... that will probably be "next up". Looking forward to some of those great pictures you get.

I wish I still had that Moth pictured, it met its end a decade ago but I still have the wings and original laminated struts and cabanes attached. That on had a LensRC 25T motor on 3 cells with a 8x4 HD and was a hotrod.

I have no interest in a 3D version but may look at heat forming the new wings to undercamber and pinning the ailerons. If that isn't workable I have plenty of Depron on hand.

I'll be mostly going on early sorties over the 2 acre pond in my backyard but have never flown off the water. How hard was it to design floats for your Moths Pat?

Floats are easy to do--I didn't even draw up plans for the balsa ones--just cut the sides by eye and cut formers for the step and the tips and rear end. Probably took less than an hour to make them.
