Had the 64" for a while (until a buddy of mine finally talked me out of it)...and the replacement 60" Laser is still on the bench...but snagged the little 48" as a deal I just couldn't pass up.
As with many of those deals...a complete run through of the airframe usually reveals some things that don't look like a good idea for the "long term"....case in point on this one....the Rudder servo mounting.

This one had an HS-65MG mounted in some sort of exterior plate...but checking the linkage....I could actually see the back of the servo flex in and out with the fuselage about 1/4" with any load against the rudder. I'm sure the original airframe must have some sort of reasonably solid mounting point back there....but after inspection...mine most certainly did not....took some pics during the repair process...now she's solid and ready to give me the rudder authority a plane like this should have
That looks great!

Sorry for all the pics...
Maybe a little motivation for any of the guys with repairs pending...a little patience and time spent to "make things right" goes a long way in this hobby

Your "Gatling Girl" looks very enthusiastic

Thanks,
TC

Yup. I found her somewhere on RCG (can't remember now.)

I like the step-by-step pictures detailing your repairs. Keep up the good work.

Well I didn't have to wait long 1 hr after I got it all done the wind stopped blowing. So I charged up some batteries and went out and put it through its paces. This little sucker rips. It sure does have great pich authority and roll rate. I'm pleased with this Little bugger. I think this will become my new every day flyer. Time to give my Edge a little break she's been beat to death but it still flys great.

I was sealing the hinge gaps on my new MXS when my metal bar stool collapsed. One leg broke and the rest just folded up, dumping me on the ground. I managed to get rotated a little and get one hand on the ground first, so it did not hurt that bad until I realized I had landed on the wing.

Of course, this was during Joe Nall week and no one is home in Cummings. Hopefully they can process my order Monday and I will have it Wednesday.

Well, I'm glad you are OK. Planes are planes, they can be fixed or replaced. We can't be replaced and sometimes cant be fixed.

Thanks for the sympathy, guys. It really wasn't that bad, especially considering what I went through last year. I wasn't even sore, and the worst part was I had to do almost the whole build standing up because my chair was so hosed!

What color MXS? I would have guessed you'd have spare wings

I only wrecked one red MXS, but I gave the wings away to a friend who needed them.

I flew it today with one of the wings from the wreck and it was absolutely perfect.

I'm hoping to get a new wing Wednesday or so. Until then I am using the right wing from the previous wreckage because it wasn't hurt. This plane uses Hitec 7.4 volt servos and it's a tumbling monster. With the improved centering you can pretty clearly see how much better the precision flying looks.

I'm delighted to have my MXS lineup set for awhile. I'm going to be flying a lot of different planes this coming year so I like having stability in my EXP stable.
