FMS Mustang - Startup

Just released from the hanger - quick video on my FMS Mustang. Yes - the Merlin sound was dubbed over - couldn't resist!

Wow! Very nice work on the detail of the plane.

Could you expand on what you did to make such a smooth metal finish? A step by step would be awesome. Would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Will do - It's a process, but well worth it. Here's an image of just one step of coating the foam prior to the aluminum skin process. It's been an effort to kill the "basketball" texture once and for all. The process uses acrylic medium mixed with lightweight filler along with fiberglass in areas. I'll post more updates later.

Have you decided on placement of MrRcSound unit? 1 or 2 speakers?
She can take 2 speakers and it improves both soundlevel and also gives more bass due to larger cone area. Listen to Andrews soundexamples in earphones. The Merlin shut down has some bass that you would like to enhance.

With a 4s cell, I'm right at 5 lbs 10oz. There are different weights of aluminum out there, so of course finding the thinner materials is key.

Maiden Video

Maiden video just posted. Flies extremely well! No interference from the aluminum and the weight doesn't appear to affect the performance. Flying field was a bit small, but she trimmed out fine!
