UMX Bf109 G6

Hi!

Now i start with the buildingthread for my second Version.
My first version was this one.
It flies with 2s, 6 Servos and weights with battery 58gramm.
That is too heavy at 45cm wingspan.

So now i build a complete new one and i hope the new one weights with the same funktions ( retracts, flaps und cooler) < 30gramm

I started with the Motor.
in the old one was the Motor from the UMX Beast ( 8gramm and a GWS 5x3x3 2,5gramm)

The new one is a modifide AP02 with a selfmade Gearbox like from Vladimir here in this forum.

Motor with Ballbearing Gearbox weight 2,8gramm.
With Prop Microinvent 5x4 3,5gramm and with ESC 4gramm

Juergen I saw your videos of your foam DR I and your larger 109G. Your skills sort of make a mockery of the title of this forum, in a good way, in that you are able to build both large and small indoor models from foam. You're clearly a very talented builder and have picked a fascinating subject in the 109; I will follow your thread with interest.

Juergen can you describe what material you used for the landing gear, and how you cut and formed the wing parts? You are off to a very nice start.

Thank´s guys!

the heavy version with 0,25gramm was a polysterol push rod tube with 2mm outside diameter.
The lightversion with 0,15gramm is from a Q-tip. The red tubes are outside push rod tubes 3mm outside diamater. The mechanic is 0,15mm GFK and 0,8mm diameter carbon.

The Depronparts are Thermoformed with hot wire cutted 0,6mm Depron.

Looks good! When you say "thermo formed" can you say what your process is? I'm thinking about a micro Yak-1 but have not built a model out of foam.

Here can you see how it works.
My friend Thorsten ( in the clip) makes the Bf109 parts too.

Depron tiefziehen... (1 min 33 sec)

Thank you for posting that video. I have a vacuum form machine and look forward to attempting to form depron parts on it.

It looks like he heated the depron on a hot plate, separate from the forming machine?

I am greatly looking forward to seeing your progress given your impressive ability/access to form depron!

RR, Looks great I have a few questions.

What is the hot plate temperature?
What is the foam thickness and is it Depron?
What is the distance between the hot plate and the foam when heating?
Did the foam sag any before pressing it to the mold?
Can you show how the foam is held in it's frame?

Thanks for the video.

Pete
