Plane EPP surface

Hello there
I own a BORMATEC NINOX flying wing. It's made of EPP. So the surface is very rough with many pores.
Do you think laminating the wing would improve the flying performance?

It looks like the epp was formed in a wing shaped mold. It will probably have a higher density and a better surface finish than wire cut epp.
Because of this higher density I would first apply some Scotch Extreme Tape to the leading edge to prevent the epp from tearing if you ever have to land softly into a tree/bush. and then cover the wing with thin laminate.

Many tapes don't stick well to raw EPP. Scotch Extreme is an exception, so don't give up on tape unless you've tried that exact tape. Not knowing where you live, perhaps that's not an option.

As to your original question, I wouldn't expect the typical flying wing to perform notably better just because of covering. But they survive impacts a great deal better. However, I'm not familiar with your model.

I am from Germany =)
But i noticed that raw EPP is extremely resistent again impact you can crash again and again and again and you won't even notice a scratch.
My hope was to get some extra speed out of this plane my max was around 80 kmh full throttle downwards =\ but then it starts to bump around in the air

Laminating the wing will keep the EPP clean and smooth out the surface.

You need to use Ultracoat or other low temp laminate

Most laminate won't stick to EPP without a spray adhesive like 3M77.

Laminate and spray adhesive does add some weight so make sure it doesn't change your CG.

Spray the wing and let it dry before ironing on the laminate.

There is some clear laminate that will stick without a spray adhesive available on the market.
