Naval Target Drone is 45 Degree Delta

I saw this and couldn't find anything more about it. At :18 you'll see a delta wing drone which looks a lot like the Simplest Simple Delta by Balsa or Carbon. I thought it would be cool to paint one up to look like a naval targeting drone, but I can't find anything on it.

Anybody have experience with these?

Yeah, I was wondering what the specs are. How big is it? How much would it take to replicate its performance? I bet you're right.

High alpha, very slow landing approach, superb stall manners. Delta wing performance and shipboard landing requirements are a nice match.

Does this mean you should cover your models in a chrome/reflective film if flying near any naval ships, just in case

It has to be able to fly slow enough for the Trillion dollar laser to hit it ...

Got it!

It's a BAI Systems BQM-147a Dragon Drone.

Painting it like a naval target drone would mean painting it... grey. Yup.

Painting it like that NASA ship, on the other hand...

Wikipedia says the center section is 5 feet 4 inches long and the wingspan is 8 feet 2 inches. I don't know what the root chord is.

It has a flight duration of 3 hours and tops out at 80 mph. Service ceiling is 10,000 feet.

Perhaps it is non-electric and they fill the whole wing with fuel. I tried zooming in on the engine, but can't make it out.

Wikipedia says it uses a Quadra 100 SS engine .

See how the wingtips jut out straight? What is the advantage to that?

This photo from http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-147.html suggests the length is the root chord. The brief description on the page also mentions optional fuel tanks (internal) to increase range.

The tip sections appear to have thicker airfoil section as well as somewhat increased chord compared to the wing on opposite side of the fence. Combined with the fence I would think these changes are to minimize tip stall effects.

Finally, I notice moveable trailing edge sections just inboard of the wing vertical fences, separate from the elevons. These might be ailerons or trim tabs.
