Possible Chinese copy of the ArduPilot? Sucks to be DIYDrones if that's the case. One of the problems with Open Source projects too.....

DOH! And only $140 bucks!

If it's a first gen you might want to wait to see what bugs shake out.

Shoot Jimmy, it doesn't even have to be open source for them to make a copy of it! What bugs me is that now the Russians are hanging out on my web site and have been for the past two months. Have heard that they are testing a paratrooper-packable UA that is a flying wing.

Things that make you go "HMMmmmmm"

You're right, Gene. I notice a lot of traffic on my site that ends in "ru" as well. I guess we need to get what we can while we can before they copy our products and then undercut us......

"The ArduFlyer is a complete open source autopilot system. Its design come from 3DRobotics and it 100% compatible with APM2.5."

Yeah, it's a copy and in the forums over at DIYDrones it's fairly common to see folks asking questions about the APM but have the RCTimer version of it. The APM is open source though so folks are making copies.

It's a great deal for RCTimer. They produce a product that may or may not have the same specs or level of quality components that the 3DR boards have and have to supply virtually none of the support.

Personally I buy the 3DR versions to help support the guys that are doing the innovation and design but for folks that are looking to get into a decent autopilot these prices are hard to pass up.

I own one and it is the same quality as the one from 3dr.
The components used are exactly the same.
Only minor difference is that the PPM controller has a different bootloader, wich means the firmware can only be updated through the SPI port. (only an issue if you use futaba tx/rx)
Support from RCtimer is better than 3dr, they don't make an issue when something is wrong, they just send you a new one.

Yah right, I'll bet you spend alot of time at DIYDrones reading all the blogs, FAQs and wiki, which rctimer does not host, 3DR does!
