Help!
Tekin T8i rewind (looking for service)

Hello,
I have a Tekin T8i inrunner (http://www.teamtekin.com/t8i.html) that I would like to have rewound in a 2.5Y configuration. Is there somewhere/someone reputable that I can contact to do this? Thanks in advance!

Okay... After browsing the forums, I think I'd like to try this myself. Most of the threads are for outrunners though. This is a 12 slot 4-pole motor. Can someone please point me to some inrunner winding guidance for this type of motor? Thanks in advance!

Why do you want to rewind it? Higher rpm?
What is the current configurtion?
Figure out whether star or delta hookup
Figure out number of winds per (couple of) teeth. Wires wound in parallel count as one wind.
Figure out number of teeth per coil
Figure out wich winds or CW and which or CCW.
Figure out wire diameter.

Pictures of winds, coils, hookup?

Vriendelijk groeten Ron

Thanks for the reply Ron!

I want to lower the Kv.
It is currently a 1600 Kv 3D. The company offers a 1350 2Y, but I'd like a little lower than that, which is why I would like a 2.5Y.

I will disassemble and take many photos this evening.

Dis-assembly pics:

It looks like it is going to be challenging to get the wire in and out as the stator is glued into the can. There is also a lip on one end.

FWIW, almost no one rewinds inrunners.....it's not easy.
A glued outrunner is bad enough.

If it's terminated delta, you may be able to separate the ends out and re-terminate to Y without needing to rewind the whole thing.

Attempting a full rewind on your motor is most likely a good way to destroy it.

That would lower Kv by factor 1.7.

I de-soldered the tabs which revealed 3 bundles of wires. The middle bundle can be separated into to groups that look like they belong together. The other 2 have roughly 24 wires each. Separating them individually is possible, but would be pretty time consuming. How would I ring them out from that point?

The only surefire way to do it would be to test for continuity between the two middle bundles and each of the individual strands. Group them together and mark them so you don't forget which goes where. It may certainly take awhile, but you don't exactly have many other options

From there, it would just be a matter of adding leads or solder tabs to one end of each of the three phases, then soldering the other three ends all together. This is a Y termination and will lower Kv by a factor of about 1.7 like Ron said.
