SK450 mix and swap. 10,9, or 8 inch props?
I threw together two kits to make this Quad copter. It is a ghost sk450 and some after market 450 I found on amazon.
The quad has 4 emax Mt 2213 935 kv brushless motors.
4 Newer 30A firmware with 3A/5V BEC APM2 escs.
10x45 CW and CCW blades.
KK2.1 stevis 1.9 version board.
and the rest you can see from the pictures I will post below. When I tested out each, esc from Newer. I didn't get the cell count beeps like I usually do on turnigy plush escs. They did calibrate and seem to fire up just like they were meant too. I got the programming beeps when I held button 1 and 4 on the KK2.1 board with full throttle on the transmitter. My maiden flight settings (that seems to at least let me hover some) are
P Limit: 100
I Gain: 50
I Limit: 20
P Gain: 95
The battery is 3,000 3S
Total weight is 1175 grams.
I know the large landing gear makes it some what unstable. I can get it too hover some what. I dialed down the I gain to lower the oscillation. Dialed up the P gain to get it to stabilize. It is still squirrelly for me to hover and land. I read somewhere that 10 inch props might be the trouble for these escs and this type of motor. I really like the motors, and the escs are very clean looking and neat. Could it be in the setup, I used for this quad? I plan to add FPV to it once I get it dialed in.
I would greatly appreciate any help. I was thinking about ordering some 9 and 8 inch props on amazon to see what difference that would make. But that will take a couple of weeks to ship here. I know each quad is unique in its setup. I am seeking advice from some of you who may have run into this type of problem or situation before. It is not fun to fly a squirrely quad
Fixed my settings.
I played around with the Gains.
I find that for this quad these are its sweet spot settings.
Just in case someone else has the same problem. I hope it helps someone out in the future.
P. Gain 112
P. Limit 100
I Gain (50% rule applies here) 57
I Limit 20
P. Gain 72
P. Limit 20
I Gain 46.
I Limit 10
I can hover and it keeps pretty stable. Landings are more stable. These are all indoor settings. It is too windy where I live to fly. Same props same setup as mentioned above.
