What size is a good Rx Pack. Would a 1400 2s nanotech be enough for say 5 flights?

Thanks Gavin
I use a 1100mah 2s LiFe pack on my 500 and it's good for at least twelve 5 minute flights

Got me a little confused.
I am after a fbl head which fits an 8mm main shaft, but can use 520mm (12mm root) blades.
From your post, the Gaui grips use a 6mm feathering shaft, which sounds to be 500 size.
If I use an Align hub suitable for the 6mm f/s would that have to be 500 size too?
My 550GT uses an 8mm f/s, so I would be a little concerned about strength.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

The Gaui X5 is a 550 class helicopter and comes with 520mm blades stock.

The X5 grip *should* fit an Align Trex 500 hub if you also use the Gaui feathering shaft because they both use a 33.5mm wide hub and a 6mm feathering shaft.

I asked about the X5 hub width on helifreak two years ago here.

Thanks FPainter, I didnt want to use the T600 as Ive read you have to cut the frame to mod it for it to fit. Didnt want to do this. I run the T Typhoon range on my 450 and 500 helis and are great.

2Doggs Thanks for the info. I think a 1500 2s should be fine then.
Im new to the whole Rx pack thing.
Cheers Gavin

Definitely food for thought.
How did the 500 stretch work out?

I'm using a 1500mah 2S on my X600 and after five 5 minute flights it only drops to 7.9-8v. I don't bother to unplug the electronics between flights either.

I used an XT60 with two leads one to the Robird and one to the RX which in turn powers the rudder servo. (with the Robird the rudder servo is on a separate power bus)

I'm using a JR XP8103 with a 2.4ghz FrSky module (it originally had a 72Mhz module) Upgrading an old but good module based long wave radio is a good way to get a quality 2.4ghz radio cheap. Including the new module it cost me around $70.

I did the same with my JR 9XII, I couldn't believe how cheap and how good the FrSky module and RX are!

Hi AS and 2Doggs

The 2720 is a non modular transmitter.

However, FrSky do a diy (hack) unit designed to be hard wired internally.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_Module.html

Used one of these to convert a Turnigy 9X a while back, worked a treat.

My problem is that all my fleet are on the 2720, so I need to hold on until I can afford FrSky receivers for all of them.
I also have a 2610 transmitter, so I suppose I could transfer my models to that, then transfer back in stages once I have fitted receivers.
Jury still out on that plan.

Work in progress

Well my HK550 arrived today. Quick unpacking reveals The usual, The Canopy is almost split right in half. Surprise surprise. Maybe they do it so you have to buy a new canopy from them.
Apart from that the quality looks good so far. Will do a quick assemble tonight and see how everything goes together. Ill posts pics of the build and problems as I go.

So I got heli all put together, and have just started on the head (FB) Was attempting to leve the swash put the swash real high at mid stick. So I checked the swash links and HKs links are around 62mm from Centre to Centre But the align 550e manual says they should be 50.3mm. Linkage Rod D.
So any one else had this issue. Am I looking at the wrong manual or are the HK links wrong?

Cheers Gav

Hi Gav

Don't know if it applies in your case, but when I got mine I had a similar problem.
Turns out HK/Garrt had packed FBL links in an FB kit.
Set of Align links soon cured that.

IIRC, this is the one I used.

Hope this helps

So Im sure HK have sent the wrong links. They are the same length as the links from the Main Grip to the follower arms.
Ive ordered some more, But now i see what people say about HK. It seems to be one thing after another.
Just need blades and gyro now.
