Price shopping for GWS Slow Stick - complete setup

Hi,

I am a first timer and I've decided on the GWS Slow Stick.

I already purchased a Triton charger, but I need _everything_ else. Even the banana plugs for my charger.

I'd like to spend about $150 (not including the charger).

Can someone help me shop for the best combination of parts and where to purchase them from?

Thank you.

I would like to know this as well, but I am completely new to this. I just recently bought the B2 Stealth kit(receiver, charger, battery, plane, everything) from interactivetoy.com found at Walmart, but I crashed a few times on its maiden flight and busted the belly of the plane up. Its foam and would like to glue it back together, what type of glue should I use?

As for getting the Slow Stick, what do I need. I realize I would need everything from the plane to receiver/controller, batteries. Please help myself and this other guy out, I really enjoyed the 5 minutes I had with my stealth today.

Hey guys,

I would try EBAY for a slow stick and a flight pack....you can get a
combo for under $120.00. You could also try www.aeromicro.com. They have reasonable prices.

As for gluing your B2 Stealth, use a little 5 minute epoxy to glue it back together. Just don't use CA glue, as it will attack the foam.

http://www.allerc.com/
much cheaper than any other place I've seen!
Slow Stick $34.95
GWS Transmitter $32.95
GWS Pico Receiver $24.95
Crystal for receiver $7.25
2 Naro servos $14.95 each
8 cell NiMH 800 pack $18.95

Budget is about $150 total.

If I had another $30 to spend, what should a starter get? A second set of crystals? Better Transmitter?

Battery packs are obvious to me, I'm sticking with NiMh for best bang for buck. it is the RC and flying stuff that I need help with.

Thanks.

I'd spend a little more on the receiver and get one with dual conversion.

Thanks for the advice. Are we talking about the GWS RD8/SS - Dual Conversion receiver? What exactly is the difference?

I am likely going to add a digital camera later on - should this influence any of my parts purchases? Thanks.

I don't know if they still have it, but balsapr had a gws radio setup for $45. Course thatwas with std servos, so another 34 or so for Naro, 15 or so for batteries, 30 for the plane, and 30 for a cheapie charger, and you come out to about $154. Of course, you have to add shipping, but you're pretty close. Than you can fleabay the std servos for a couple of bucks to offset the shipping.

Roundsparrow,
There is a really good explanation of Single conversion vs. Dual conversion located here: http://www.bergent.net/SC-DC.pdf

Since you intend to add more weight with a camera later, stick with the smaller micro servos, although the Slowstick can haul up a lot of stuff...

make sure that the Slowstick you aquire has the eps300C-D gearing and not one of the eps300C-C gearboxes, and then get some 1260 props....

If you search you will find many ways of modifying and spending additional cash on the big red bat....my favorite is flying the SS at night with navigation lights

I am confused as too which transmitter goes with which reciever, crystals, battery, all of it. How would I know which combination is the correct combination, there are so many different models numbers.
