I cut the elevator off, took off the top covering and opened the top of the outer stab bays.

I marked a line down the center of the elevator and cut notches for the LED strip to ride in. The strip is held down with a dot of thick CA and a small piece of Blenderm tape. The electrical attachment is thru the LE of the elevator and will later be routed thru the stab.

Used pin hinges to put the elevator back. Put some LED strip in the stabs. The elevator power wires will route thru the stab and out the LE of the stab into the fuse. The stab power will also come out the LE of the stab. I hope to cover these wires with monocote.

I removed the covering from the top of the fuse and small piece on the side. I tried the strip several ways. On the sides, in the bottom of the fuse shining up and in the top shining down. I settled on one in the bottom and 1 on the top. They both shine into the fuse. Tied a piece of string to the backing and fed it thru with a CF rod. Then you can pull the string and remove the backing when it is in place. Added some thick CA to the strip to help hold it down.

Now to get all the empennage wiring up to the front of the fuse. I had to run the wires on the LE of the stabs for a short distance. They are exposed for now but I am going to try and cover over them later.

The wires have to be routed and the the stabs can be covered back. I covered the exposed wiring on the LE.

Re-covered the elevator top in white to match the ailerons. Hinged it back with pin hinges.

I put some waterproof blue LED strip on the vertical stab to make things easy and wired it all up temporary for a test.

Used a piece of perf board to mount the Turnigy Multi RX switch on and a Deans connector.

At this point I made a 8 pin connector for the wiring harness from the board to the wing. It has separate connections for the ailerons, mid wing, LE and 3W circuits. The plan is to switch the ailerons, mid wing and 3W circuits, leaving the LE as "Always On". There is a two row header on the board to plug circuits into for Always On or to test a strip.

Looks like the Turnigy Multi Switch is not going to work out. The LEDs are dimmer running thru it. Probably pulling too much current for it.

I ditched the Turnigy switch and installed a small RGB controller. It is not remotely operated but If we get a Xen later it will be easy to change. Much brighter now.

I have the ailerons, elevator, mid wing, stabs and 3W on the RGB controller and the vertical stab, fuse body , cockpit and cowl are Always On.
