Dear Thomas Ekdahl, firstly, I apologize for the inconvenience that you and other customers experience because of the lack of the manual, but I am trying to do my best to finish it and to make available online. I do send draft versions to everyone who asks it from me. I would like to let you know that the last e-mail I got from you was on the 17th of November 2012. I double check that. If you still need any information, please contact me donatasdesign@gmail.com
Dear Dansy, you are right – I really get lots of e-mails every day and I try to answer as more as possible. Moreover, there is an official DonatasDesign email where all questions regarding kits, information related to them should be sent. Those e-mail are answered 100% (I even have a person who helps me to do that). And yes, there might be such situation that I do not answer if I get questions on Facebook, Linkedin, sms or personal e-mail… but it is not done on purpose.
DonatasDesign is a young brand and I am trying to do my best in order to make good models, to increase the number of RC family. All comments are appreciated – they help to improve our products and marketing policy.

Respectfully,
Donatas Pauzuolis

P.S: Slightly updated manual of Spies can be found here:
http://www.pauzuolis-rc.com/SpiesDraft2014.pdf

P.P.S: Again if you have questions about Spies setup or building, please post them here I will try to answer them asap.

I have couple of photos of my Spies at the RC Album server http://www.rcalbum.cz/model/7151-spies.html (by the way, I find RC Album a very handy service, where you can upload pics of your model, its technical data and have people evaluate it and post comments, I think it's available also in English version).

It flies great, I even dared to sign up for a local competition, and ended 12th out of 14 in the RCEA category (not because of the plane but of head, hands, and absolute lack of time

The brakes on the elevator are no more there, the plane was a bit "over-braked", so I cut them off and it flies better. Senior modelers also told me the brakes on ailerons should not be close to the fuse (as I have them) but on the sides, to to disturb the airflow to the tail ... well, I'll do this on the next indoor plane.

Nice looking plane!! Yes, those brakes on the wings are really limiting airflow to the tail. They would work much better near the location that Donatas suggested them to be. The brakes on the elevator look good though!

Finally got a chance to set up telemtery in my F3P Spies.
I wanted to see my 2S lipo voltage for a long time.
I am using a FrSky D4R-II - 4 Channel Receiver and a Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01).
This setup cost me a couple of grams, AUW now 3.7 oz. with a wing loading of 1.67 oz sq ft.

Must be more than one typo in there.

315 = 11.1 ounces - can't be that
115 = 4.06 ounces - can't be that either
105 = 3.7 ounces closer, only two typos required.

Have you figured out anything about the voltage from the log files?

Your right 315 was the sq.inches.

Still playing with the low/critical voltage alarms. It's a pretty fine line between low/critical.
Motor stops at about 6.5 volts. I am working on!

Seems to have plenty of range. How much shorter can I make the antennas?
Can I just use 1 antenna?

Best way to save weight would be to get rid of all those connectors

And you save a lot of weight by using magnet wire.

It takes a while to do all the soldering, but it's worth it. You'll probably save 2-3 grams by using magnet wire.

It's an approximation, but I am using 30awg on direct drive 2ish gram servos now. And when I get my 2.9 gram servos I am planing on using 30awg and 26awg for the tail servos. One my ailieron and esc, I am using 26awg.

Maybe 4 is a bit high. But 2 isn't.

Sorry if I misspoke.

Looking at Voltage drops in a conservative way ( 24 inch run ,and 700ma current)
at 30 gauge it is around .3v. For each smaller gauge you could add about .11 v drop.
If we start at 7.2 volts 30 gauge gives us 6.9 volts to the servo. If you are not running a bec this is probably good for those 2.9 gram servos. Mine(TGY-D1290P ) are rated at 6 volts but i have been running them at full voltage with no problems.
I think we can easily run 31 or 32 gauge wire.
