Well, I have one less bird in my hanger. The wind was blowing hard so I decided to take up my old trusty Art Tech F6F Hellcat. First flight was good but the wind was having its way with her. My bro in law had wanted to take his first RC flight and I offered my Hellcat. The wind died and his first flight was great, even landed her like a pro. The second flight though, not so much. He put her into a down ward spiral and he was able to pull up before hitting the ground, causing her to do a cart wheel which I think saved her. I have a back up wing but I think I will try and fix this one. We were about to pack up and leave too.

Ah, the dreaded "one more flight"..... gets you every time.... Any time I catch myself saying "OK, last flight" or "all right, I have time for one more..." I stop, and pack up.... because you KNOW i will crash on that last flight....

Note taken, won't make this mistake again. My bro in law was actually in his car ready to drive away and I taunted him like, Your not down for one more?! I'm learning though. This is the video of us walking up to the plane. Notice my sigh as I am in pain to see my trustee Hellcat, all broken up. Excuse my colorful language.

Trex 600e Pro DFC / mobius - Sunset flight with Canopy of Shame

I think this is about my 10th flight after the crash last month
- flying nicely now, gyro feeling quite nice....
- crash damage on the canopy clearly visible!

However, I have a new crash video for your enjoyment
- this is of my Trex 450 Clone crashing into a tree!

Trex 450 SE Clone (Gooch 450) - Crashing into a tree! (2 min 31 sec)

- due to a possible servo problem
- or tail control wire problem..

Got it down in one piece with the aid of a long piece of wood...

- I'm fairly sure this was a failure of the front right cyclic servo
- which is a little worrying....

I was getting some unexpected pitch up just before I lost control
- but that may be as I was trying some longer blades out...
- 335mm compared to the usual 325mm
- it might explain the pitch up, but shouldn't have strained the servos too much, I think ...

- if it was the servo, it was most likely damaged in a previous crash, and eventually failed....

I'm curious if this is the oldest, still active thread? It's 12 years old, that's probably older than some users!

Today's rough landing, 40+ mph nose first. Not advisable, by the way, for a scratch built doculam covered balsa plane. This 40" 3d performer was built entirely around Hobby King parts including a 3542 1000 kv Prop drive motor, a 50 amp Hobby King esc, 4 9018 MG servos, 6 amp HK Ubec, and a 615 Orange Rx (the only equipment casualty) all powered by a 2200MAH zippy flightmax 40c battery. It appears that a Nylon Clevis 2x29 (PRODUCT ID: 12-00503x10) on the elevator failed during a knife edge spin and as we had no control of the elevator as a result, well, less than a great landing.
