now made some decals which go nice on the dark depron

heres a top view for cutting

construction is as previous but uses all 6mm dark grey depron

use stringflys plans for top fuz shape ...length from aileron hinge line to the nose...make x2 and glue together
use stringflys design for the tails x2
bottom fuzes are mostly made with parallel edges... decide the depth depending on your batteries...give yourself an extra 1/4" or so
( mine were 40mm)
make 2 centre fuzes and glue together...length is from the aileron hinge line to the nose.
make 2 side fuses, these go from the elevator hinge line to the front (intake) shoulder...and are set parallel, the outside edges are 10" apart..

my side fuzes were glued vertical to the main wing surfaces..to allow a larger prop cut out if needed...and all the fuzes were the same depth.
(On the motor setup ive put in, I didnt need a bigger slot so I didnt need to glue them vertical)
..AS the raptor has angled sides, and if you decide go that way remember to allow a lot more depth on these outside fuzes to get the angles needed for the champher, whilst keeping the overall depth the same.

In addition there are a couple of lower cross pieces for strength...one at front across intakes...one at rear over the motor mount fixings.

I used a tube motor mount held in a depron sandwich....it lets me change motors easy..

motor used.....Emax 2212....approx1500Kv....11.1v ....draws 15A at full power using a GWS 9x5 cut to 6 3/4"x5.......loads of power!!!

I have replaced the prop with a cut down 8x4....cut to 6.5... this has dropped the full power to draw only 10A which is the max recommended for this motor

flying..... ....fast on 1/2 power...much faster than what I enjoy, still I expect I will get used to it..It can be slowed to a crawl at high alpha for landing

K going to do the f-15 I have 3cell 1000 mah packs and either a himax 2808 0860 or a e-flight 370 1360kv outrunner any recomedations for which motor and prop?

for a change I used a camo paint scheme on the f15, I did the top in it, didnt like it much, and so did the bottom with the 2" coloured packing tape as I normally would.

anyone got a good colour scheme for the f15...best ive found which would suit the tape method is the NASA one ...see pics

revised COG for first safe flight...4 1/2 inches, measured forward from the aileron hinge line/ CF mian spar

just buy duct tape and tape it all gray. paint also works.

youve probably seen them but dont miss out on the nutball... ive built mine from depron at 32" span and its a must have..


With all my designs the idea is simplicity and ease of build...fun scale, not real scale... you can adjust the shape to get as close to the real thing as you like...and add in as much as you like to get the realism..If you want scale models there are some great builders out there and the plans are available.

please note that whatever size you build the lower fuz depth should be made to suit your electrics and battery, dont scale it!..Ive found 1.5 inches to be good..and keep it flat then the lower cross braces will fit ok
