Airtronics / Hitec Compatability

Have I made a really stupid mistake here? I read that Airtronics txs worked fine with hitec rx's .... so I went out and ordered an Airtronics RD 8000 tx (real good price). Then it just dawned on me that hitec makes both +ve and -ve shift rxs and the two electrons that I own are -ve shift .... Ive just screwed myself haven't I.

What do I do now? .... can the tx be switched to -ve shift? or the rx's to +ve

stupid stupid stupid!

Any help will be greatly appreciated maybe I can stop the order or mahe some change ... help!

Don't worry, it will work. Menu under "MOD" you can change to any of these modulations:
PP+
PP-
PCM1
PCM2

PCM is only for Artronics RX the old and new. (512, 1024)

Nope you are fine. That is one of the best features of the the Airtronics rd8000. I have one and use it for both + and - shift receivers just fine. It is a setting off the Basic menu and modulation. Just set it to PPM reverse for Hitec/Futaba and PPM normal for Airtronics JR. See page 25 of the manual.

This is one of the best features of the RD8000!

Your fine dude! Airtronics computer radios can work the reciever regardless of what shift it is. It just a setting you need to set in the program for each aircraft. You can adjust the shift for any of the model memories individually. So you can fly model 1 with an airtronics positive shift reciever and fly model 2 with a hitec negative shift reciever etc. That's the beauty of the Airtrionics transmitters. Oh and they are the easiest I've found to program too. They menu's are very very easy to understand and operate. You will love the radio.

And here I was planning to make a killing with a low offer for some Hitec receivers.

Hate that RD8000! ;-(

What did you hate about the radio. I have a RD6000 Super and LOVE it. For the price it rocks (Xmitter only $120). It's the easiest of the computer radios I own to program, It's way light, the switches are bulletproof. Yea it can't do everything my 8UAPs can do but those are a pain to program I am forever busting those darn switches and they are much heavier. Not to menton they cost more than twice as much as the RD6000. My only complaint is that the battery runs out too quick. You gotta wonder why the RC mfgs are still using NiCads in thier products. The rest of the world moved on to NiMH 5 years ago and are moving on to Lipos now.

Simple cost and voltage drop off. One thing I never liked about NiMh TX batteries is the steep drop off when their voltage dropped. Of course never had to worry about that much since it took 4 hours to run down the TX.

Sorry, I made a poor attempt at a joke. Since the RD8000 is so capable and able to do shift select, I didn't get a chance at a fire sale on negative shift recievers.

Totally a joke, but it loses a lot when you have to explain it.

The winking sad face was a give away. I was pretty sure he was kidding.

Ive got an airtronics rd6000 and like TFLG said, it's the lightest, most comfortable to hold radio I've owned.

My Futaba 9Z is so heavy my arms and shoulders cramp up if I fly for more than a half hour.
