Update

Been on leave this week ( rebuilding suspension on my MG , and working in the evenings on the Rob Roy details.
I made up the break links and bars for the brakes , made the rear brackets and turned up the brake standard next up are the lever arms and last set of rods and ends.
Made up the rear bunker tank vent and piped up the sidetanks.
Piped up the crosshead pump and the hand pump (I am making a brass box to cover some of the crosshead pump pipework in the style of the lubricator on the other side.
Fitted the smokebox railing and when I figure out how I will fit the smokebox lamp bracket and lamp.
I keep finding little jobs to do all over the loco , but less of them now .
Got some brass sheet today to make up the removable roof and cab back sections for display .
More as and when.

Hi Tom.
Yes , I have an MGF ( had it for 12 years ) and use it rarely to zip round the country lanes in Somerset if the sun ever shines .
Did 739 miles last year .

Nearly There.

Hi.
Did some more work today .
Got a quote for 35 for cut round glass to fit in turned down 1" brass tube to make new windows for the cab
Then I had the idea of looking for watch glasses on ebay . Found hardlex glasses in anything from 16mm to 30mm for 3.20 each PERFECT.
made up the window frames from 3 seperate turnings , press fitted and bonded together they hold the glass perfectly .
Finished the fronts , working on the backs , they are more complex as I am drilling the frames for bars.
Made and fitted the dummy whistle to the cab (the real one is under the left running board) and fitted the lamp brackets and lamp to the smokebox .
Finished all the break system and set up the brakes (they are for show prety much as they are a bit weedy to stop the loco with the throttle open
Made up and fitted the crosshead pump cover .
Working on the cab steps , back windows and bunker rail now .

I have never had a chance to see an MGF. The last ones here in the USA were MGC-GT's. It's a good looking car, that "F"!

The MGF was pretty much the last sports car made by MG before they went bust and got taken over by the Chinese.
Mine has a Motorsport 190(Lotus version of the MG engine) all alloy engine with variable valve timing.

Made up the cab steps this weekend and bolted them onto the running boards.
Just a few jobs left to complete now .
I am going to rig up a gas burner to test it in steam .
I am not too keen on cleaning soot and tar out of the boiler after using coal . but may be tempted to try it later .

Completed

Finished off the Rob Roy today Well ! till I think of some other job to do
Drawing out the class case and getting the display track ready now .
I am working out how to fit a gas burner into the firebox to test her under steam before casing her up .
I still have all the running tools to make , like hand pump handle , coal shovel and special keys for gland tightening (which will live in a drawer in the display case eventually).
Finished off the bunker rails and the rear windows, so soon the search will be on for another project soon . But I need to find something a bit challenging and have no Idea what I want to build next yet.

How about building a railroad around your yard for the Rob Roy to run on?
