FW190 or BF109 as a first slope model ?

Hi,

I would like to build my first slope soaring model. I have no experience building foamies (I build composite DLG ) but I definitely have to try building a foamie.
I would like to make a Messershmidt BF109 or a Focke Wulf 190 (I love these planes). I would like to make it reallistic, but not perfectly accurate scale model.

Do you think these choice of model are good for beginning sloping ? any drawings, plans anywhere ??

Any information is welcome !

Contact Leading Edge Gliders for an EPP Warbird.

I dont have experience with a foamy 109 or 190 but I do have a P-39 (60 inch LEG) and it flies in 10 mph on up with room for 1 lb of steel ballast.

There are you tube videos on how to build with EPP or you can search RCgroups for a build thread.

Between semi-scale foamie Me-109 and FW-190, I'd say it's six one way, half dozen another.
For exploring slope flying, why not build yourself a heavy-duty version of your DLG with a conventional tail group and beefed-up wings and fuselage?

Rockbus,

Thanks for the link, nice models, but I want to build my own plane. Scratchbuild everything is a drug for me
Now I have to spent some evening on this forum to find some build treads.

Shredair,

It's done! I've prepared an old DLG I've build 2 years ago, and it's ready for the slope but...for now, no wind AND rain...so I wait...

Ready for slope testing ! But still no wind...
It's not really a FW190 or a BF 109, but for testing slope, it will be OK :-)

That DOES look very good, very well suited for exploring slope lift.

Some flying on the slope, but wing was to weak, so I practise some DLG launch. And I was not alone...
(I'm not sure a FW190 or a BF109 will thermal as good as my DLG ).

I think I will begin soon to sand some Styrofoam to make my German plane
