Hi Jumpy,
Thanks for your report re: loading the software. I'm not IT-tech here... so what does your experience conclude? That it is not compatible with APM mission planner and 3DR software, or just that it was delivered without the appropriate boot loader?
For a newb, is it complicated to "load through arduino"?
Cheers for your thoughts and advice. :-)

No its fine with Planner.. was prob just the default boot loader they had on the board... some people have had similar probs with genuine boards depending on f/w version etc.

Pretty easy to update through Arduino .. follow this guide http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/Code

Also have a look at this site.. good guide for people new to the whole APM scene http://www.arducopter.co.uk/arducopter-quickstart.html

Looks exactly the same as the genuine board... waiting on a frame for it.. will update when I have it up and running..

Havent seen anything, all of the links point to the genuine 3DR stuff.. looks mostly the same.. few components actually look better quality such as the protection diode. .. but that's a laymans view

How are you guys planning on mounting your FC? Standoffs, double sided tape, or with O-rings...

It has an odd form factor.

Glad you posted that picture. I was wondering how well 2.5 would fit in a 2.0 case. Looks like a no go unless some cutting is done to get at the DF13 telemetry/GPS connectors. Everything else comes out OK.

Yeah some trimming required.. but no big deal.. looks good in case and gives it a bit of protection
