Travelling New Zealand with my (break-down-able) Zeph

My co-pilot (wife) and I have just returned from two weeks travelling NZ's south Island. One of the most beautiful places on earth.
This video comprises of all of my AP flights during the trip.
From smuggling the plane through customs, to persuading the Mrs to stand out in freezing weather to film my take-offs and landings, this video took a lot of organising and (enjoyable) work. Not to mention the editing. Please subscribe or like in appreciation!

Well done, Dan, and to your co-pilot!

Beautiful video from a beautiful place. I lived on the South Island for many years and will be returning in a couple of months to meet a new grandchild. It should be warmer then!

Nice work on the `travel' Zeph. I have a couple GoPro-equipped AV-planes. One is a Stryker with the GoPro in the nose, but no chance in getting that in my luggage! Plan to make it FPV soon.

Cheers,
~Z

Thanks Z and Bolter.
Bolter,
The night time lapse is no different to one shot during the day, except longer exposures and intervals between shots. Also got a bit lucky with the moon coming up over the mountain at the end.
I have a collection of time lapses done from the trip on my vimeo channel. You may recognise some of the locations from my AP vid.
Thanks again for the comments!

Great stuff! NZ truly is a wonderful place. Interested as to why you felt you needed to 'smuggle' your model through customs - surely there's nothing prohibited on a foamy model like that?

Was just joking around Gordon. I was actually stopped by security on the way back to Australia from NZ and questioned about my lipos. When I showed them the documentation I'd printed before we left showing they were under the allowable lithium content, with battery terminals taped and in a fireproof lipo sack, it was fine.
I travel with my RC equipment all the time. Each airline has safety regulations which must be followed, and I always research this before the trip.
I always put safety first when travelling with my RC stuff.

Very cool video, loved it (FPV).
Which lake is it at 2:50? That's my favorite view in the video.
Cheers,
Norbert

And the best bit... I still live here!

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We are very lucky to have such a variety of geography with only an hour or twos drive
