I like the combo. I am using those servos in a Logo 500 with Edge 553 blades and the AR7200BX and am very happy with the performance. I am a sport flyer, but the heli is, by far, the best that I have flown. I *may* have to pick one up when they are available. Fortunately, I have an in with the LHS and get great pricing from HH. About the only thing that I wouldn't use in the combo is the ESC and BEC. I'd rather go with a Phoenix Ice and a dedicated receiver battery.

Seeing as I was in the market for a 550 sometime in January anyway, I may wait a bit and see what the first reviews are like. The manual is certainly very nice, and I like some of the design choices (as has been said, triple bearings, aluminium support for cyclics, bearings in TT).

130A ESC is interesting. Clearly more headroom than the 70A that Align offers in the 550. Is this new bird intended to operate at more watts stock? Hmm...they suggest up to a 6000mah, so me thinks so.

Gearing is similar:


-------- Align------ Blade
Motor 1220kv------ 1360kv
Pinion 16t ------- - 14t
Main 170t ------- - 160t
Battery 6S ------- - 6S

The blade actually nets by the numbers about 3% more head speed then the TREX ...BUT where Align uses the 520 blades the Blade will use 550s. Also the new motor could make more torque, which makes sense too.

I think the 130A ESC and loads of room in teh battery tray say this is a down-sized 600, and there will be a 600 released soon after depending on the 550's success with more or less the same frame.

Perhaps...but the 130A esc looks more suited and designed for the 550 as it's limited to 6S.

Some companies list amps different than others. CC list by continuous AMP's maybe they list theirs by max amps. All the new Align 550's are coming out with the 90amp talon 112t main 11t pinion

That puts the Align faster at 90% of 2394 and the eflite at 90% of 2378. Still with the blade size difference eflite is pushing the 550 to max blade speed. I think in real world people will be lowering that pinion. Just like the older 500's came with a 13t and with the old stock motor was more flyable with a 12t. I really wouldn't want to use a pack under 45c with that gearing.

I agree, I think a lot of people will want a more chill flying style. It's actually not that heavy a heli (given the advertised weight is with lipo), so with the big blades it should be pretty floaty, a bit lower headspeed won't hurt it.
