Model Aero New Product Release at JR!!!

Model Aero will be releasing our new Drifter surface vehicle at the JR Indoor 2011.

The Drifter can run on water, grass, snow, pavement and just about any surface you can think of! It is surprisingly fun and entertaining, and makes a great "After Hours" RC vehicle.

It's also a great teaching tool for learning the basics of RC and simple kit building.

The Drifter is not on our website yet, but we'll have a limited number of kits at JR.

See you all at JR!!!

very cool!, is it just the flat depron on the bottom or does it have skids or wheels or some form of protective layer? it seems like after running for a while on pavement there won't be a bottom left!

It is flat on the bottom. The instructions recommend some type of protection on the bottom, either thin plastic sheet or Gorilla tape or Scotch Tough Transparent duct tape. The Drifter in the video has been absolutely abused and I have nothing on the bottom, just bare Depron. It is scarred up pretty good but still performs just fine.

It should be fun to run in the dome and through the lake!!!

Scott, What will be the projected cost?

Also, is this using the 2200kv brushless like the Polaris?

I am doing an intro price of $45 at the show. Combo $90 with motor, 40 amp ESC and prop.

The kit includes laser cut foam (1 1/2 sheets of 6 mm Depron) and plywood parts, pre-bent aluminum roll bar, decal set and instructions on CD.

The Drifter I am bringing has a 2212-6 and it is waaaayyyy over powered, but very fun!!!! I originally had a 2212-10 on it which is plenty on land. It does like the extra power on water as there's a lot more drag.

Looks cool Scott! I have a little Dumas swamp buggy with a OS 10 on.

I look forward to seeing it on Spektrum Lake. You should put a car controller on it so you can back up!

Hi Pete,

I've have a few swamp buggies in my day and this just started out as an experiment but boy is it fun!!! It puts a smile on your face every time you run it!!!

You're welcome to take it for a spin at JR along with anyone else who wants to try it!!!

I am not too sure Scott did not come to Japan and sneak into my cho..... I recently built this just to use some Sky Fly parts that I was about to give away here in the free items thread. My wife absolutely loves to play with this thing!

I think yours is faster!

Looks like fun Scott!!

If anybody has a great mind, it is Scott and Baseman. Wow, half a world apart and very similar ideas. Got to love Karma or something like that.
