Saito 91 issue

I have a Fun Aero SE5A with a Saito 91. I bought this engine from another
club member who couldn't make it run. I fixed the air leak, runs great, but
now I have another problem. It turns a 14X6 Master Air Screw prop right at
10,500 RPM on the ground. I am chalking this up to the size of the cowl and
am wondering what would be the correct prop to try. Plane came out a little
heavy, 11 lbs., and could use a little more thrust.
Thanks
Bill

Re: Saito 91 issue

A 14x6 @ 10,500 is quite good. My Saito .91 would turn an APC 14x6 @
11,000 on a good day when new.

The Saito .91 can hang around 8.5 lbs on the prop.

At 11 lbs the .91 is probably starting to strain. You can play with
different prop sizes but its maybe as good as its going to get.

I believe the SE5A is a bi-plane. Bi-planes have a lot drag and its 11
lbs. You may have to make a sacrifice somewhere.

Nothing like horsepower. When you just can't flog anymore power out of the 91,
look to a Satio 100. Even a 120 if you had to add nose weight, you could change
the lead for working horsepower. good Luck, Andy
