I have started a build on a new B-1B model. This model has some elements of a profile jet combined with 3-D modeling techniques.

Constructed from 6mm, 3mm Depron, carbon strips, and 3mm balsa.

I hope you enjoy the build.

Please keep in mind this is version 1 (Prototype)

Day 1:
++Bulkheads cut
++Horizontal plate cut
++Backbone cut and glued (2) 6mm Depron glued together for a 12mm backbone. Carbon strips installed mid backbone.

UPDATE (12/5/2012): B-1B.Net is back and so is the project!

very cool. have you decided on a CG location yet? not sure if you've been following B1 Bob's build, but it's worth checking out if you haven't. he's building an 18 footer for turbine, but he's used profile planes to check out his CG with wings extended and swept. I seem to remember the CG not being in the place you think it should be. I'de go to his website and check it out, plus ask him some questions. he's a great guy and he will help you out. good luck and I'm subscribed.

Im "Awp" on md-80 right now. Awaiting backordered fiberglass parts from manufactuerer. I decided to push forward for testing. I am still eagerly awaiting your results also. PS. I will post wing pics for the 80 soon.

Test fit for fuse is 80% done. Now to start glueing forward fuse section.

Wings and horizontal stabs are next.

yeah, he's a funny guy in general. even his dad begins his SR-71 vids with "hello everybody". hahahahahaha.

I'm not sure if there's been any updates with the B-1 as of late. he's been busy with an F-105 that looks every bit as spectacular. the website (for those who don't know) is www.b1modelproject.com

Lol I remember looking at the auto-cads, it looks lust like em... u just need some green paint! I cant wait to see this in person.

Images View all Images in thread Views: 356 Here is a plate design from profile jets. Views: 276 The parts separate seems fragile. However, when combined into form, they are quite strong! Views: 265 Bulkheads to be fit together like a puzzle. Views: 276 Second section of Bulkheads. Views: 345 Just an idea of size against loveseat. No she is not broken and yes the backbone sits VERY straight. She is simply in two pieces here. Views: 269 3mm carbon strip itegrated into backbone. This strip is x2 (both sides). Views: 355 Plans printed at full size. Views: 285 Horizontal stab plans. Needs refinement. Views: 533 Smaller mock-up of a beta version was done to see if the design would become a solid airframe when pieces were combined. Answer: Very, so much that it was modified for less parts.
