Good find, Uwe...

Did anybody know that this would be the next PZ bird?!
I wonder if all their pretending that Axis birds don't sell was just some weird marketing strategy... or maybe they just meant WWII-Axis?

Very nice I'm in for one to go with my SE5

Also nice to see a realistic pilot and not a cartoon pilot

It's nice to be a Preiss, but it's nicer to be a Bayer

Just thinking loud...the Bavarian livery would be very difficult to replicate. Since v. Richthofen was a "Preiss" the Bavarian livery came to mind. Execution is doubtful, though.

cheers

I did not look for that Richthofen-livery yet... what is that skin color on the fuse all about? Was it painted like that?

Some more detailed reading...

..."According to an article in Windsock International, Volume 4, No.1 spring 1988, Richthofen flew 4 D.V's at various times. His first,D1177/17 JG1. June 1917, is simply described in his combat report as having a "red body". His second, D1033/17. JG1. July 1917, had a factory finish with red nose, tailplane, fin, rudder, struts, undercarriage, wheel covers and upper wing. His third, D2059/17 JG1. August 1917, had red fuselage, tailplane, struts, undercarriage, wheel covers and spinner. Fin in natural ply, rudder in lozenge fabric. Wings were standard camouflage dopes, probably green and mauve. His fourth, and last recorded D.V was D4693/17. JG1. November 1917. Richthofen reports flying this bird on November 23, 1917, when he brought down his 62nd victory (DH5, Lt J A V Boody, No. 64 Sqn RFC). He describes this machine as having, "red hood, red tail". No further details were available at the time. This might be your autumn 1917 subject. Keep in mind, this article was written 22 years ago and new material may have come to light."...

Wow, looks like two Albatroses will be getting added to my squadron--both the PZ and the E-Flite!

In the E-Flite video At 57 seconds you see a profile. That spinner is really offset downwards to make it fly right. Should look ok in flight though.

I always ask myself what is the fixation on having Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte aircraft with a red livery. There were many famous pilots other than Richtofen. A Goering all white DVII would be quite nice for example.

Hood

ps Excuse the mini colour scheme rant - any WWI plane is better than no WWI plane!

I understood, believe me! At least it's in what appears to be a historically-correct scheme, rather than just all red, and since it's foam painting other schemes should be pretty easy. I'm already thinking about maybe getting two of these, one to leave stock and the other in a Udet scheme . . .
