Source for solid 15mm carbon rods?

Anybody know where I might find solid carbon rods with od of 15mm. I'm wanting to replace a solid steel wing rod with something lighter. I've found hollow ones online but can seem to find solid ones.

Thanks for any help.

Google - 15mm solid carbon rods

Looks like some use that diameter for camera rails, and other things.

Yea, the camera stuff is 15mm o.d. But the stuff I saw is
hollow carbon tubes. I'm looking for solid rods.

Thanks for responding

If you can find another tube that will slide in the 15mm tube and glue the two together I would think the strength would be much more the the solid steel rod. BUT, I have no hard numbers to prove this theory of mine.

Here's a link to some 10mm and 12.7mm carbon rods. These are pultruded carbon rods.

Thanks Scott,

I did see their web site. They just don't carry the 15mm that I'm looking for.

Have you considered a hardwood dowel, (beech or something similar).

I used 12mm beech dowels on my old 132" span Hump glider as joiners for the three piece wing, they were only 7" long as the ribs and wing spar did all the work.

I also used beech dowels on my 93" B-25, (9mm), and a 100" B-17, (12mm).

A piece of 12mm, (1/2") diameter dowel is near impossible to break by hand, even a 3ft length.

I think I'll go with Ken's idea and glue a solid carbon fiber rod inside a hollow one. Should be pretty strong.

I have GOT TO ask. Why solid for wing rods. ALL the physics say that the "core" of a solid rod is just along for the ride; add weight without benefit, and indeed, promotes bending more easily.

Even with a solid carbon rod I'll be saving a lot of weight. My steel rod weighs in at 1.5lbs. A solid carbon fiber rod should be in the neighborhood of 0.5lbs. I did find a source thanks to another member on RCGROUPS. Here is a link in case anyone else is looking for similar stuff.

Also I actual measured the rod with some calipers and found out I need a 14mm rod. Moral of the story, don't believe everything you read on the internet.
