2.4 RC, 1.3ghz Video, Please help

Hey all,

Trying to get myself setup slowly with my FPV quadcopter.

Im trying to run 1280mhz video tx, have a lowpass filter from readymaderc, and the range is terrible. I have a 9x and frsky module in it. I put it in test mode and with 1280mhz, i struggle to get 26m or so range. (30m is recommended) Other channels seem better, but i just bought two antennas tuned for 1280. Will going a different channel cause much loss? Any secrets other than a low pass filter to try and stop the interference with the RC?

So many people on here seem to do it with no problems, wondering what I can do better.

If the range of the stock Frsky unit with standard antenna, is say, 1km.. If im getting 25m or so on my test, should i assume I can go 600m to be on the safe side?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Its all about seperation I found out today with my tricopter. Been struggling getting only 200 m range. By moving my rc rx antennas 2in forward (opposite direction of vtx on rear arm) I doubled my range in range check mode. I'm gonna get some longer frsky antenna for the rc rx and stick em out front far as possible. Give it a try.

Hmm, interesting tests tonight.

Just had an esc cable plugged into the rc rx, range with video gear on was about 17m (in test mode)

Just as a test, i fut a ferrite ring around the single servo cable, signal was better, 24m say, but the rc rx, wanted to be in a very particular spot, antennas forward.

Then switching channels around got me out to about 30 odd meters in test mode, which is normalish, so id be happy with that. But the rc rx is very picky about where it sits. Move it sideways, signal gone.

Also I cant get it to go on 1280mhz, which is what my patch and clover are tuned for

I have got a new frame on the way, so i should be able to get a bit more distance between the video tx and the rc rx.

It seems that most people just put their Low pass filter in and they are good to go. not sure why im having so much trouble.

Any more guidance would be great.
