I plan to have a symmetrical airfoil tail, mainly for looks and balance. But if I find the pendulum effect comes into play ill make a hole in it and install a variable pitch tail prop to keep the craft level in all circumstances. that way I only need roll compensation on the cam mount so the tilt can just be used for tilting. Ill never run out of tilt that way. Had it before on a quad that used the tilt servo for lining up shots and compensation, in forward flight the mount tilted up to compensate and I ran out of control to point the mount up. not a big issue unless I was going for a level view at speed but still a pain.

yep, just dont try flying backwards, it would tilt to make any error worse !

So now im at the stage of setup and tuning.. (yes finally)
And straight away I run into an issue, a WHOLE lot of servo jitter, even when its not armed.
As an added bonus, servo values remain at 1500 when I arm it and move it around while connected to multiwiigui.
And the hits just keep coming, theres a buncha I2C errors because hobbyking neglected to include some decent multiwii defines.
Oddly enough the sensors all seem to be functioning in the multiwiigui.

Im using metalgeared analogs. Digis are stupidly expensive I think?

EDIT: Oh wow, prices on those got shot to hell huh? I see em for barely 5 bucks now.
Which one do I need though? Prefferably a drop-in replacement for a standard MG90/HXT900 servo.

Id go e-max 12g digi metal geared. I can get them locally for about £7. I use them on everything now, Planes, Multis, Gimbals. most flight controllers output a PWM signal that has such a fast refresh rate that they'll fry analogue servos.

I cant have them doing maximum throw, it makes the mechanism bind.

Also, is there a minimum strength/speed I should look for when picking a digital servo?

If the torque is the same go for it (at work ATM so I can check). As for adjusting the throw. Move the pushrod in a hole on the servo arm. You'll get better torque and resolution than you would if you just limit the endpoints.

It doesn't work like that with this mechanism.



Moving the ball joints closer to the middle will make the balljoints at the top bind even sooner.

Could you fashion a little adapter block that would screw into where the motor mount ballpoint is, then 90 degrees round the block refit the ball joint so that its on the same axis as the servo arm ball joint. Almost like an 'L' shaped piece (to get the idea). That would prevent binding.

Yes I know what you mean and it would indeed fix the problem, no I cant make one because I dont that that kind of tools. :')

If the digi servos jitter send them back :P. On the bench, on a servo tester they shouldn't make a sound when still. Oh and braid the servo leads if your getting some interference from the ESC wires. You'll be fine. And that HK servo looks good to me . Best off reading the HK reviews at the bottom of the page. Luckily HK don't screen them so if a product is rubbish you'll read all about it :P.

The plain analog servos dont jitter on their own either, its the firmware doing that..
